I lived in Birmingham for 3 years and miss that city so much. No one, all around uk, can believe me when I say that. I am pretty sure there are so many cities all around uk prettiest than B’ham and where you’re more safe, ok, got that, but I still love that city. Birmingham has been my home for 3 years! 5 years in uk now, living in Edinburgh and planning to move to Australia, but I’m still in love with Birmingham and even if it’s not the best city in the world, my favourite memories are all from there. Thanks for your video and your time, I really enjoyed it. You just made me feel so in love with your town again and I miss Birmingham even more now!

As a fellow west midlands-er, I love your passion for Birmingham. Thanks for showing bournville. Despite going to bournville everyday for meetings, having friends there at one point and now every several weeks to the QE Hospital, I have never the chance to look around. Great job, It's jewel I never knew about. Buildings though are amazing as you drive from cotteridge to Selly Oak. Love it.

This lady is very young, many of the buildings she refers to as old only date back to the 1960s, I am 68 years old and already on to my third Bull Ring, New Street Station and Library. By the way, the Cadbury family were Quakers and left instructions that no public houses (pubs) could be built on Bournville Village Trust land which extends for some distance outside the actual village itself.

@@brummbykj And I have lived here all my 71 years and I find your comments misleading in the extreme. Never seen any gangs or drugs or violence, so maybe it's you that is the problem, and don't say I was brought up posh because the opposite is true. Born and raised in a back to back in Small Heath, moved to Lea Village, then Stechford, Birchfield, Bromford and now Bordesley, none of these places are "posh". I'm not so naïve as to not know there are some problem areas, but on the whole this city is safe and beautiful.

And after they chop up digbeth Road system it's going to keep a good many more away from the city centre. Its already been reported as ' the death of Birmingham shopping' . We will all know more when the traffic has been reduced and people decide to or not decide to go to Birmingham City centre and move to merryhill to shop where parking won't be an issue, if the council were desperate to raise funds because they've overspent on Perry Barr, then this wasn't the way to do it, in my opinion. Another ill thought out project to get people out of cars and onto BUSSES Probably thought out by public transport users. Internet shopping I can definitely see increasing.

. You are right, it is dirty in some areas where people don't give a stuff about the city they live in. I've lost count of how many people drop litter out their pockets or out of car windows or empty their car ash trays onto the street. Maybe it's dirty because the council want to waste money on projects such as they are. It's has been reported recently that the councils policies for less pollution will actually increase it. So how clean is clean? . 🤔 Its all pollution in the end

Watching this as a brummie makes me love brum even more, and yes we are all very very excited about birmingham finally looking like the second city. martineau place and SBQ are getting redone too which will help so much also, we are NOT being overtaken by manchester, i will not stand for it 😂

Don't worry, you won't be overtaken by Manchester because it's ALWAYS been in the lead - Manchester is lightyears ahead of Birmingham, so there's no competition.

@@anthonyfoley3401 Oh you are so smug, how is the City of Manchester light years ahead of Birmingham Brum is larger in size and population, has a top rate night life and Restaurant area,it is the only City other than London that has a Philharmonic Orchestra and Assay Office, it has a more modern City Centre and will be top of the bill when the Commonwealth Games arrive in 2022. I am not sure why Mancunians are so smug and irrepressible and bloody annoying.

@@aarizmushtaq4301 I do not know why you are so worried of coming to visit my Beautiful City of Birmingham, where do you get the fact that there are a lot of trouble makers and dangerous people !! you will get no more problems in Birmingham than if you visited London, Manchester or any big city in the World, and I hope you have not been reading these trolls going on about violence, they are just trolls who have never visited or know what Birmingham is like, one big mistake was made by Fox News which was trash. Believe me Aariz Mushtaq, you will find Birmingham a vibrant City and believe it or not us Brummies are a friendly tolerant lot of people no matter what other people say. At the moment there is the UK's largest German Market out side of Germany in the City, the Frankfurt German Market and there are lots of visitor attractions both in the City Centre and outskirts, but like any big City keep your self to your self and just be normal and I can assure you I dought you will see any trouble makers or dangerous people, I think you are listening and reading into to much whispers by trolls, I have lived in Birmingham 66 years and have had no trouble, so forget your worries and come and visit Birmingham.

@@peterwilliamallen1063 I spoke to locals and they told me that are alot of troublemakers in city centre that like to intimidate people walking on the street and there is so much crime. My friend was approached by a man in city centre asking for £5 and pulled a knife out on him! On the news I heard that are alot of violent crime like knifemen and harassment especially in the city centre.

This was a super interesting video! My girlfriend is from Birmingham, Alabama and we went and visited her family there last summer. Definitely pretty different haha 😆 😆. I’ve only ever been to London and Brighton but I’ll definitely have to make my way up north to Birmingham on my next trip to the UK!

Did Part 2 ever happen? Did it include Moseley Bog (Tolkien connection and all that), the Jewellery Quarter, the Balti Triangle, Aston Hall, or useless trivia like Brum having more canals than Venice, three times as many trees as people, and that Birmingham, NOT Liverpool, is the epicentre of world music, being home to bands such as Black Sabbath, UB40, Duran Duran, Moody Blues and dozens more?

Hi I'm a Californian from USA going to stay with my extended family in Birmingham UK. I'm honestly quite scared to get hit in the face with culture shock because I basically know little to nothing about the UK. The only place I've been to is London but only for a few days. This time, I'm going alone to Birmingham alone. Any tips on USA vs UK culture shock?
