It goes without saying that doctors, nurses & all essential workers have been heroes throughout this time, and asked to take on more than they ever should have. It can’t be fully expressed how grateful I am to live in a country with free healthcare, but I’d like to dedicate 100% of the ad revenue from this video to the NHS Charities Together to show my support. Thank you for everything that you do! 🌈 UPDATE: as of Monday 8th March we’ve now raised over £500 for the NHS through ads on this video alone, incredible work guys! (And thank you for sitting through the SEVEN auto generated ads youtube decided to place on this video, which I had no idea about at all - have reduced the number now) 🤍

Almost the exact thing happened to me and my husband- we tested positive the week before Christmas after having done everything right (and I completely agree that it was frustrating seeing friends post in restaurants and with other people when we hadnt seen anyone or been anywhere for so long, and also still felt a lot of shame- like people were judging us and thinking oh they must have done SOMETHING to get it). We also both lost our taste and smell and it was so disorienting and depressing (I love food and it was so sad not to be able to taste the things I love especially during Christmas!!) and took a while to get it back. It really does impact your mental health!! Thank you for making this

You have such an ease about you, Alix, you seem like you’ve been through a blossoming/grounding period that is now coming through you as a shining confidence. I’m so sorry you were ill, very glad to see you’ve recovered. Also, give yourself credit for making it through the trials and tribulations you’ve been through. You’re still here-that ain’t nothin’. Also as a registered therapist I thank you for your openness about using therapy to support yourself, for many the stigma still exists and I appreciate you challenging that. I agree that books are a fantastic way to continue learning and deepening empathy alongside using it for escapism!

I appreciate very much hearing your honest experience of illness. I have struggled through serious illnesses and deaths of my close family members the last 6 years and agree with you that exposure to illness changes perspective. I don’t have goals right now. I’m an older person struggling to get past relentless challenges and restrictions. I have a comfortable, secure life and I’m grateful for it and I’m glad you have recovered your health and buoyancy.

Thank you so much for sharing. I've missed your content. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, but what an experience. 2021 hasn't been the best for me. My brother died in February in another country. We're in lockdown and couldn't be with him in time so had to say goodbye to him over the phone. It's hard, but we know a lot of others are facing similar circumstances. I so related to what you said about finding it hard to smile. Thank you for your honesty. So happy to have you back.

Thank you so much for having the courage to share your experience on all that has been happening. It’s really hard to put yourself out there when it comes to certain topics we don’t even want to discuss with ourselves. I have been watching you for years and have truly missed you a lot. Your sense of aesthetics is impeccable and the way you present your thoughts is the perfect balance of honesty and cohesiveness. I’d love to see a Spring Outfits Inspo video and a ‘getting back to social life’ makeup video. I haven’t worn makeup in months, I feel like all my products are rusty and old, so would love to know what your favourite picks are. Love, Teresa ❤️

So sorry the past few months have been so hard for you Alix, so happy you're feeling better! Please keep taking it easy, the recovery process is so important! Potential book recommendation for you would be 'Mudlark' by Lara Maiklem, great book about London's history with items found in the Thames. Thought you might want to read about what's in your own backyard. :)

"Comparison is the thief of joy" is so often said but it's cos it's true! The way mental illnesses express themselves are all 'bespoke' and unique to each person, so how one person in almost the same circumstances will react can be completely different to another. In the worst parts of my depression I struggled to read at all (which was hard during a Literature MA 😅) and it's still way harder now than it used to be years later, but I am enjoying it again. Glad to hear you feel better! Sending you virtual hugs 🤗

You are one of my most admired "influencers" in this world of social media. I have been following along on your journey for many many years now - that feels a little bit creepy to say, sorry. But I think you know what I mean. I just wanted to let you know that what you present outwardly here seems so full of sincerity and compassion and empathy, and I want to say thank you. It's so obvious to me of the consideration you take in analysing your place in the world and how you impact it as much as it impacts you. You're very thoughtful with the delivery of your thoughts and make an effort not to shame or judge the innumerable ways that people exist in the world. You seem very aware of the need to be continually learning and it doesn't seem performative at all. I really appreciate you and value what you bring to this space. I imagine being an "influencer" like you would be challenging at times because of the consciousness you have to the myriad injustices going on in the world and the roles we all play at some level to perpetuate systems that harm. I don't have answers and it's a complicated space to navigate but I think your heart and mind are in the right place. You care and you think deeply and feel deeply. I don't wanna make you feel awkward and I so apologise if I have. I just want you to know I value you and what you share here. You are a light. Thank you so much xx

Happy to see you back ❤️. I've been able to keep one of my goals stretching every morning. I started slowly learning playing violin at the age of 29 years old for fun and because I always wanted to try. 2020 was a challenging year with of without covid for my family, but I went through the problems still have some but my motto now is "It is what it is. If I can make a change, good! If I can't, we'll it's ok. I keep going no matter the pace, I keep trying." and I finally moved in my one and been struggling to adapt a bit being alone but I'm at a better place now 🌼🌼🌼

Thank you for your vulnerability! Such an inspiration to witness. Sending you a big hug and warm thoughts! 1 1/2 year ago I had to call in sick with stress at my former job in the film industry. I was off sick with stress for a month, and then I quit to get away from the toxic work environment there was at this company. I then got offered another job in the same industry, which I took after a couple of months consideration. So I started working at my new job in January 2020 a couple of months before Denmark went in to our first lockdown. In Denmark the companies could get support from the state, but that meant that the employees weren't allowed to work as long as the company received the support. So suddenly I was at home isolated and couldn't work for 6 months. This was a blessing in disguise as it gave time for me, which I hadn't had since I started working in the film industry, and it was so magical just focusing on myself. So when I got back to work in the autumn, I knew I was done with this industry, where it is frowned upon making time for yourself and setting boundaries which means you're not going to work all night. So I quit in December, and in February I started an education where I can work with people and can provide care. So my 2021 goal is to focus on ME, do what makes ME happy, and follow my gut feeling because it has never failed, I've just neglected to listen to it!

I am really happy to see you are fully recovered and ready for a fresh start. I think that you are also quite bold sharing that you had professional support and this is necessary to become something normal. Here in Brazil it's quite acceptable socially that one takes therapy with a psychologist, but I know it's not the same everywhere and you being open and truthfully spoken helps to normalize this. I do wish you lots of energy and power in your fresh start!

I would really love videos on mental health, once you‘re ready! 😊 Prioritising my mental health and finding a therapist is also my main goal this year. And I can relate so much about not being able to focus on reading! I could (and still can) only read lighthearted romance novels, even if I normally love thrillers and fantasy, they were giving me so much anxiety and I couldn‘t concentrate on the plot and enjoy it. Let‘s hope, this year it will get better!

Really appreciate this video, you speak so well and your voice is really calming 💜 Also I love your hair omg 💁‍♀️ As someone with chronic fatigue I totally get the identity crisis that comes with feeling so disconnected from your body and it not doing what you want, feeling isolated etc. I'm really glad you got through that difficult time and have found ways to cope with what you went through, putting things in place to work on yourself now, while remembering that just getting through the day is enough too. I've not been on KZfaq as much the last couple years with moving then starting uni in September (it's been a wild socially distanced time) but it's really lovely to see you again and I look forward to more videos 😊

Thank you for your update, it’s so good of you to let us into your life. It’s lovely to see you back! I love the idea of discussing mental health on your channel, couldn’t agree more about therapy. I was lucky enough not to struggle with mental health until I had a baby and then had postnatal issues - luckily people saw what was happening and I got help and therapy. Best thing I’ve ever done. Last year I had a real low period and I got therapy straight away, it helped me to stop spiralling. The more normal it is to talk about these things the better, even if it helps one person. I love your book content (and I’ve bought a few books after watching your videos) xx

I had the same experience regarding reading in 2020. I just couldn't focus; my mind just kept wandering off. Also, I felt I needed some lighthearted entertainment, so I only watched comedies on TV and couldn't bare any dramas. I am glad that you are well now and hope that your strength and motivation will come back full force in 2021!

Well done! Thanks for sharing! I think its completely okay to take your time when your feeling bad. Everyone is coping different, but when you can hide or cannalise your emotions during work that doesnt make you a better person (let alone a better professional). We all have our own goals to work on. Recognizing what you would like to change or improve is the key. Changing behaviour or the way you would like to cope with emotions/situations is hard work. Im 39 now, and not there yet!! Be you and be safe!love from Amsterdam

Here in Ireland we are still in the depths of lock down.I find I can only take baby steps in terms of making changes.I am a mental health nurse and I work full time so at least I am up out and being productive for most of the week.I was lucky enough to receive the vaccine which makes me feel at least I am not putting my patients at risk. It’s great to see you again.you sound strong and positive despite all you have been through.I am trying to get back to reading and would welcome any tips on how to motivate myself.stay safe and well until the next time.I know I speak for a huge amount of people when I say your presence here on KZfaq is greatly enjoyed and appreciated.xx

So glad to see your face! Keep doing you, you’re doing amazing! 🥰 My New Years resolution was just to be more positive, try see the good side of things when it seems impossible, and I do feel like it’s helping me! I moved house in January, from Aberdeenshire to the Highlands, which meant moving to a different area so I couldn’t meet a friend for a walk which really impacted me mentally! But really hopeful for Summer to make lots of happy memories! ♥️ lots of love! X

I'm so glad to see you're back and doing better. ❤️ I've been trying to stick to a no/low buy in order to save up for a surgery procedure that will give me better self confidence. It's the best feeling to not do it for the world or other people's opinions but genuinely as a gift to myself. I'm thankful that covid kind of allowed me to slow down in a way and not feel like I have to consume on every level (make-up, fashion, travel, etc) but to save money for something that will really "spark joy". X

I'm so glad you're back! Had been wondering if you were doing ok :( With that being said, we all have to take care of ourselves, mentally, more than ever, don't be harsh on yourself and take day by day. Completely understandable that you had to take a break. Hope you have a fantastic start to the year!! I'm going to make March the start of mine too! xxx

So glad to hear that you’re okay! ♥️ I was one of the weirdos that messaged you on Instagram to ask if you were okay. 😅 I know you worry sometimes about your videos becoming monotonous, but I find them so relaxing and inspiring. You have such a lovely personality, you are always so honest and down to earth in your videos, and of course you have a killer aesthetic. Keep being you. We’re here for it. 🙌🏻😘♥️

I hope you recover well and have a better year this time round! I work at a university in chemical engineering so that job hasnt stopped at all, if anything I think im only allowed to go to work and sleep... total work coma, I feel a bit drained honestly, since work is my escape from the tougher reality we are all facing. Thanks for this video, it has made me feel so much better about things, and i Fell less alone. Lots of love xxx

Glad you are feeling better and are back. Goal for this year is get back into reading. I've also found it hard to do but want to focus on that goal this year. As well as trying to stay positive as 2020 was just terrible.

I have really missed you! I can relate more to you than to anyone else I follow, and I'm so, so happy that you're back. So glad to hear you have recovered, and thank you for describing your experience with the virus. This is probably exactly how I would feel if I got it. I am being SO careful, and I sometimes feel like I'm the only one putting my life on hold for this. So, if I got sick I'm pretty sure I would feel that illogical shame, as well as a sense of injustice.

Hi Alix, so happy to see you again 😃 missed your videos a lot. I hope you will manage to forget these horrible details of being sick very soon. It feels so wrong that after taking all the precautions you got the virus. Yes for just surviving goal in 2021. And also for not feeling guilty for that. Being a public person is much harder than anyone can imagine so you do you and post and share whenever you feel is right. We can wait! Sending you a big virtual hug 🤗

I'm happy you are back and feeling better! So sorry you had to go through all of that 💜 So many things you said really resonated with me. The only thing out of my NY resolutions that I have managed to keep up so far is regular exercise routine, which feels like a miracle after so many failed attempts. So March is going be a fresh start for everything else 😅

I subscribed to you right as you fell off the edge of the earth, but I have to tell you, it was well worth the wait. I love your attitude and the way you view the world. It's incredibly hopeful while also being realistic and I really appreciate that. A lot of it was definitely something I needed to hear.
