it's called box head,ocean beach-umina,central coast, n.s.w. lived there all my childhood. surfed that going off 100's of times.

Bryce Ellis once surfed here for 11 hours straight.Had a bottle of water and a Mars Bar.The sand was perfect and it was hollow amd fast for 500+ meters...All river mouth/bar waves are fickle as fuark.

Thanks for inspiration. I saw this video early last year. Id been out there on a jet ski mid 90's and forgot how good it is. i Bought a SUP in July, waited , watched weather. Then on a Sunday in November the forecast for Thursday had surf at 2.5m at 13 secs. called an old mate still into jet skis, "no work Thursday, we are going up to Umina" He took me out and after 40mins of sitting just of the back of break it was time, now or never. I Picked my wave and paddled. next few moments was the most id felt alive for some time. Straight down the wave with the nose bouncing. shit , shifted front foot to back edge little and peeled left backside to the face. i was on !! rode it for some time till it went white . straighten up as the foam surrounded me . the wave started to reform. awesome! It was back on. Rode it to the shore. I only had just enough talent. hahah We had the best day. Now, your latest windsurf vid in Fiji has triggered me Hahaha.

So fortunate to be there that day. Best I've ever surfed it. Video doesn't really show the amount of water moving and horrendously long paddle out from the beach. Guys I spoke to on the day regularly had a 40 minute paddle out to get to the mid point of the wave. Jelly legs and arms!!

Yes,it's Umina but actually off the opening that goes into Ettalong. Rarely breaks. It's apparently firing today, all day. Damn long paddle. Were about 40 boats out today. @@shaneoneill2254

Mine pulled anchor and was on its way drifting towards Lion Island before I noticed. That was a long paddle considering my father and I used to catch a few pretty big sharks in that area.

I was right .bi did my first air lay back there on shore, and out back is a nice walk if U know the shallow path. did anyone hear at central coast, same as me. When it was huge out Terrigal haven and Avoca beach, and they printed t shirts on those days three of . Tom curren and a few others were out there, and me and me cuzin mark Starky. I'm Shane O'neill. At Avoca beach I caught me deepest ever backdoor right, and it was that tight and I'm goofy from the mountain a metre from top of mountain they broke. And came out , on surfboard. And at Terrigal haven, I decided to go bogie board. I was in deep like always. And it sucked me over and landed on the rock platform, just standing there. Lol I jumped back out and pumped it. But no so far around the little shelf

I went there because the forecast was 15 knots cross/cross-off.... it got to about 12-13 knots. I should of tried to sail it but the sweep was strong. Hopefully get more wind one day!
