Nice to hear from you again Rory. I totally agree with you on slowing down and working with the equipment you have...sometimes we get so caught up in the moneymaking part of this hobby (do we really even make money on this stuff?), buying and flipping tractors & attachments, that we lose track of what's important - having fun. I have several tractors on my wishlist that I want to buy over the next couple years, but right now, for me to focus all my attention on that, instead of school and adulthood, just isn't practical. In the next few years I'll be finishing school, getting married, and looking for a place to settle down. Plus I have two family heirloom tractors that I will soon be restoring in memory of my grandfather...I think those should take priority over buying more garden tractors. Hopefully I can take a break after I finish my CC 782 build.

Very well put Michael, seems like we share a lot of the same ambitions. I've always appreciated your modus operandi over the years, where you keep it simple and tidy by buying, fixing, and experiencing tractors usually one at a time before selling them to move on to the next. Kind of like your 82 series Cadet project, or what you said about being a "custodian" of the 140. Those heirloom tractors sound like an excellent way to honour your grandfather and the passion he helped engender.

Good to hear from you Rory! Crush the throttle cable casing a little with diagonal cutters or pliers on the GT 19.9 to fix the throttle creep issue. Keep it lubed up but a little extra friction is all you need. Leave the Roper red, it's the year range that it was made. Glad you're keeping a few sears instead of going all Green LOL - that brown tarp is gonna be a mouse market :( gotta check all your sears before starting them up. I like that gravel drag, I may need to make one. Ooh nice white Sears front mount tote box. Little advice, get a house, then fill the yard with tractors LOL you have seen my house lol. Sorry you can't make plow day. We'll make sure your spirit is in the weekend

Hey James, good to hear from you as well! I did try the pliers trick, but I probably wasn't using strong enough pliers lol. I think you're right about the Roper - the more red, the better. I can't wait to see that paint shine. I am paranoid about mice. Thankfully with the Onan it's easy enough to shine a light in and check for nests without taking the shroud off. With others, I just hold my hands near the cooling fins on the head and check for airflow. I like the tote-box too. I can't believe how few were sold, it's my most useful implement by far. Honestly, I keep thinking about the very real possibility of me getting a house in the city and my parents selling the acreage. I'd have a bunch of tractors in the back yard with nowhere to run them. Oy vey! Thanks for thinking of me, I'll be looking forward to the videos. The more banter you can edit in, the better :)

Very nicely said, I am working to downsize my collection because I don't need 17 tractors and a million headaches stepping over stuff and just not getting stuff done. It's always fun to work on a new project but when new projects keep coming in, the stuff we already have gets neglected so to speak. It's about time I give the tractors I have the attention and maintenance they deserve!

Thank you, I'm glad you think so. It's so easy to acquire new things because that's just part of how we learn and keep it fresh. But the temptation to hoard is real, and I battle with it a lot. But in reality all those things that pile up occupy our minds to some degree. There's some real interesting studies on how clutter affects mental health that helped influence my thinking going forward.

lobsterbox20 I agree, the best way to move forward is to eliminate the issue of too many projects and the easiest way is to stop bringing more stuff in to the collection. At that point it’s easier to decide what’s worth keeping and what isn’t that I already have. We can’t have everything and can’t save everything.
