Some people find it controversial that we take power naps during cruise. But it‘s really not, because we want to be sharp for the (takeoff, climbout), approach and landing. That‘s when the workload is higher. I think it‘s a clever way to enhance flight safety and that‘s in my own interest. Safety should always be number 1 priority and to me, it is. I‘m pragmatic.
We have of course procedures to assure that only one pilot relax at the time and it‘s perfectly according to rules and regulations of course.
One picture one my Instagram "bjornpilot" got enormous attention with over 240k views. It was showing me taking a nap in the A350. Actually I was only pretending to sleep of course. 😂 I‘ll show the picture in the video. 📸
Check out when we surf along a jetstream, with 126 kts tailwind! 🌬💨✈️
Enjoy and let‘s go flying! 👍🏼🤗🛫

The best feature of your channel is that it is never more than 4 minutes long! For me it is a lot of joy and learning without having to stretch my attention span! @@bjornpilot No -Thank you. Your content is excellent. I'm hooked..and will follow from now on. A question if I may? With all the mission critical ,electronic systems around you, why does the organization/governing body/whoever/ allow water or drinks in the cockpit? Obviously I appreciate that the Captain and FO need to be at peak attention and therefore properly rested, fed, hydrated etc which makes total sense but in the scenario of accidental spillage, do the panels have waterproofing or has it never happened that someone has spilled liquid on the instruments -or it happened but wasnt really a problem? Or the Capt and FO are really really careful - sorry for the long question...

@@acousticsoundz1985 First, we keep fluids away from all critical equipment. Critical area is the center console. There was incidents on the A350 but the engine on-off switches are modified now and waterproof. We still keep fluids away from the center console anyway. It is a misunderstanding that fluids were prohibited in the cockpit in a period. They have been allowed all the time.

Bjorn, a thought occures: Why not make a timelapse. Maybe set your camera on a tripod in the middle of the cockpit and leave it to timelapse a flight. Set it in the window with a sucktioncup and film the world go by. I have found that a powerbank with 5000mAh and above will supply a gopro with a lot of filming time. With a timelapse you only take a picture every set time like once every minute, once every 30 seconds and so on, so video capacity is not at bad at it sounds. ;-) If you know the flight is about 6 hours, then you can calculate that frame time from that. Here is an eksample: 1) (Desired duration in minuttes) × 60 × (Frames per second for playback) = Amount of frames for playback For a 2 minutte video and 30 fps video it will be: 2 × 60 × 30 = 3600 frames (for the entire timelapse) 1.5) You can use the total amount of frames to see how much space you need on your SD-card. A 1080p video like you're making here; One frame for me is about 2.01MB as a picture. (Amount of frames for playback) × 2.01 = Total space needed on your SD-card 3600 × 2.01 = 7236MB / 1024 = 7.06GB (for the entire video (maybe a little less since you only need the file overhead once)) 2) Now calculate the total flight time in seconds. (Hours of flight) × 60 × 60 = Seconds of flight 6 × 60 × 60 = 21600 seconds 3) Now we can get the timelapse setting from these numbers. (Seconds of flight) / (Amount of frames for playback) = How many seconds between each frame 21600 / 3600 = 6 seconds. In short: On a 6 hours flight; If you want your video to last 2 minuttes with 30 frames per second; You need to make a timelapse setting of taking a picture every 6 seconds.

It would be possible to build such an autopilot but would also be extremely expensive. One of many problems is flexibility. A pilot always have to tell an autopilot what to do and it varies a lot. Also on ground. Could be like a cars lane assist maybe. But not much help really.

Bjorn, it is an honor to watch your routine as a Captain. Every video you show how flights should occur, with calm, accurate flying actions and a healthy work environment. I have nothing to say but thank you very much for showing us your fantastic work. Regards from Brazil

I've never flown in a real plane at all, but i've played flight sims for about 14 years. Just seeing that view out of the window is just something else!! I love it! Thanks for sharing your content, Bjorn

I know the formule of being a pilot. Watch from the window and pull the handlebar to yourself. If you take off it's a good sign. Next what you do watch from the window to see if your plane is not touching any other structure. Than you have to hand over the controls to the fellow pilot and sleep. It's epic. Being a pilot is very easy. Going to do that. Thnx 😄👍🏻

Just to let know of anyone who's thinking pilots are sleeping on board, well! It's called controlled rest and it is as per the regulations. 🙂🤘

that is correct. . even us (here in Bharat wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhārat_Gaṇarājya ) now have better awareness, procedures pertaining 'controlled rest' in the aftermath of the A.I. Express Flight 812 accident😔 www.bbc.com/news/world-11772562
