Metal fatigue is a common cause of structural failure brought about by material damage caused by repeated loading. Fatigue occurs in three stages; crack initiation, crack propagation, failure.
This webinar will explore the capabilities of the Fatigue tool available in the ANSYS Mechanical application. which focuses on predicting the number of cycles, or time, to crack initiation based on stress-life and strain-life techniques.
The Webinar will look at, using presentation and demonstrations, the application of; constant amplitude, proportional loading; constant amplitude, non-proportional loading; and non-constant amplitude, proportional loading cyclic conditions when applied to calculation of fatigue damage and component life.
At EDRMedeso, we enable our customers to design better products, reduce risk, and accelerate time to market. We are committed to driving innovation by providing leading simulation technologies delivered through knowledge transfer.

Brilliant video! Thanks a lot for sharing. I am very concerned to hear that the fatigue tool cannot handle biaxiality. Could you explain this in some more detail, is it the mean stress correction theories which are implemented that are not suitbale for biaxiality? Many thanks!

Should stress corrected stress concentration factor by q be considered in Kf? Or Anysys will calculate it by itself.

Brilliant demonstration but I am very concerned to hear that the Ansys built in fatigue tool is not accurate for biaxial cases (and hence the majority of real-world problems). You say that the predictions should at least be conservative but still I am not filled with confidence! Could you explain a bit more about why it is not accurate please? Is it the implemented mean stress correction theories that are not valid for biaxial stress states?
