Greetings from Switzerland just bought one used 308 Kryptek Highlander with 20" heavy barrel. We went on a hunting range to try out at 100 and 150 meters 147gr. cheap Training ammo that suplies army here...the bullets went in the same hole. A great piece of craftmanship.The model was with 16x44 Niko Stearling GameKing scope. Even used those rifles are close to the high range price rifles that costs the double.

My Howa 1500s 308 absolutely loves the 178 grain Hornady ELDX bullets as it will stack all three into a single jagged hole. .25 in. @ 100 Meters. It doesn't mind if the wind is blowing too much either. I always let my barrels cool off for fifteen minutes between shots to let them barrels cool off and retract from the heat with the bolt open to facilitate a complete cool down. This is the hardest part of accuracy testing, but it will give you a true reading from a cold bore without the heat distortion of the heat coming up from the barrel. This is from a properly supported position. You definitely need to try a new box of the Hornady ELDX 178 grain factory loaded ammunition. Doing it using this method will always work out with the very best results for you, but it will surely make your hunting and shooting buddies madder than a wet hen in more ways than one, and I guarantee you of that.

I let the barrel cool as much as is practical after every 3-shot group. Otherwise, you’re there all day. 3 or 4 shots isusually all you’ll fire in a hunting situation with time to cool between engagements.

@2clicksup910 I rarely fire over 5 shots to sight in with and ever have to fire 2 to confirm. I spend more time cleaning and reloading than I do shooting my rifles. My hunting buddies and kinfolk have never even shot a one hole group at 100 yards much less 109.4 yards or 100 meters. My hallway is lined with picture frames holding up my targets with my one holers fired from my various hunting rifles and one precision rifle in 308, and it's the same Howa model 1500 mentioned in the beginning. It is a cerakote flat dark earth, 24 in.#2 bull barrel camouflaged. Howa company is now known as Howa Precision Rifles and Barreled Actions. Semper Fi

My Howa 1500 in .308 gets those same exact accuracy results with the 178g EldX too! I was amazed at the range last year when testing different loads and discovered the results with those. That first hunting season with that rifle, I dropped a nice, big 8 point buck with a perfect heart/double lung shot. It was a dead nuts shot and he dropped like a sack of potatoes and that round left nothing but soup in the thorax. That truly seems to be a magical round for the Howa 1500 .308.

I have a Howa Gamepro 2.0 in 7mm rem mag. It shoots 0.5 inch groups at 100 yards. It starts to wander when the barrel gets too hot to hold on to. That's with 150 grain Federal Fusion. I haven't tried other brands yet. I'm very impressed so far.

The sporter barrels do heat up and they do tend to spray the bullets a bit when they’re hot. In a hunting situation, you probably wouldn’t fire enough rounds and 1 time to heat the barrel up to a point where it would become an issue.

Nothing wrong with howa s at all had a 308 shot well prefererred 165gr and above . Now have them in 6.5 and 6 mm creedmoor both perform very well indeed . Very underrated rifles in my humble opinion .

Couldn’t agree more. Hot heaps of them in multiple calibers and haven’t found one yet that doesn’t shoot good. Unbeatable for their price.

🇦🇺😎👍Get yourself an extended bolt knob , you won’t look back. They are two piece and they cup the handle , I’ve got 4 and they give you a good purchase on the bolt. Great video

Very seriously looking at a JTAC screech owl rifle that uses a Howa 1500 action. Deciding between that, a Sig Cross, and a Sauer Pantera.

Greetings from Malta. I saw your post on another vid and managed to track your review. Looks nice. I used to dismiss Howa in the past but I came across one in 6.5x55 Swedish I'd love to acquire. Nice groups you ended getting there, given the tough conditions. Cheers.

Those last 2 groups are excellent ... I'd like to see how it shoots in perfect conditions ! My go to fox rifle is a Howa in 223rem and shoots amazing with my hand loads ...
@2clicksup9103 жыл бұрын
I’m very keen to see how it goes in “perfect” conditions. Do a final sight-in next week, then it’s off out West where phones don’t work. Hopefully get some decent conditions then; “perfect” rarely happens when you want it too. But, as I always say, play the cards you’re dealt.

@@2clicksup910 exactly .. real life shooting there's no "perfect " conditions ....

I have the 308 20” varmint barrel in the howa 1500 had heaps of issues with factory round till I hand loaded. Tried a few pills 110g,130g,150g and 168g. The 150 g pill seems good in mine running 43.5 g ADI 2208

They can be a bit temperamental until you find what they like, and that can be a long, bumpy and winding road indeed. And it’s an absolute myth that shorter barrel rifles don’t shoot well. They’ll do pretty much everything longer barrel rifles will do, and they’re easier to handle both in vehicles and on foot.

I just came across this video I want to start shooting 125 grain nosler ballistic tips in my 308 howa do you think it would work?
@2clicksup9102 жыл бұрын
There is no reason why it wouldn’t work. A bit of load testing, and away you go. Different rifles like different projectiles; you just have to find what yours likes. Thanks for watching.
@maxhunts_ Жыл бұрын
are 180 grain projectiles a bit to heavy for this im having trouble with mine atm,
@2clicksup910 Жыл бұрын
I think they might be. Might need a faster twist rate to stabilise 180’s properly. I think 180’s would probably better suited to a 30-06 or a 300 Win Mag. That’s just my opinion though, and I am certain there will be others .
