The Marfa lights, also known as the Marfa ghost lights, have been observed near U.S. Route 67 on Mitchell Flat east of Marfa, Texas, in the United States. They have gained some fame as onlookers have attributed them to paranormal phenomena such as ghosts, UFOs, or will-o'-the-wisp. Scientific research suggests that most, if not all, are atmospheric reflections, automobile headlights or campfires.
The first historical record of the Marfa lights was in 1883 when a young cowhand, Robert Reed Ellison, saw a flickering light while he was driving cattle through Paisano Pass and wondered if it was the campfire of Apache Indians. Other settlers told him they often saw the lights, but that when they investigated they found no ashes or other evidence of a campsite.[5] Joe and Anne Humphreys next reported seeing the lights in 1885. Both stories appear in Cecilia Thompson's book History of Marfa and Presidio County, Texas 1535-1946, which was published in 1985.
The first published account of the lights appeared in the July 1957 issue of Coronet magazine. In 1976 Elton Miles's Tales of the Big Bend included stories dating to the 19th century and a photograph of the Marfa lights by a local rancher.
Bunnell lists 34 Marfa lights sightings from 1945 through 2008. Monitoring stations were put in place starting in 2003. He has identified "an average of 9.5 MLs on 5.25 nights per year", but believes that the monitoring stations may only be finding half of the Marfa lights in Mitchell Flat.

They floated towards me like they were going to hit me. It was a super-cool thing to have witnessed. The second time I went it ways drizzling and I didn't see them.

The Marfa Lights were being witnessed a very long time before our modern era.

Viewers, reward yourself and the documentarian uploader by clicking "More" on the text description above for the video. He does the hard work to produce exemplary descriptions on these already uniquely presented videos. I don't know him. I can just see as you do, that extra effort to do things even more exceptionally.

I saw nothing. But, I did hear constant road noise. Plus, isn’t there a road that runs perpendicular about 2 miles in front of the camera lens?

Oh pehleezz. They are definitely car headlights from highway 67. You see red (taillights) warm yellow lights (headlights) very white lights (headlights with halogen bulbs). The lights never leave the mountain profile. Trace a straight line which is the highway. I mean, come on now.

But they have been reported since the 19th century, way before cars roamed around here.

@@DarkFalls1313 I cannot explain that. Let’s look at now and here with all these technologies available to us. On Google maps which we all have access to it on our handheld smartphones, there is highway 67 exactly in that direction. Then we have the fact that none of the lights go above the silhouette of the mountain range. Then there are the color of the lights that match those of headlights and taillights. Then there is an investigation by college engineering students (Texas A&M I think) that had cars with GPSs, real time connectivity, etc proved the lights were from cars. They had team members in realtime told to flash their lights in a prescribed pattern and recorded the pattern from the Observation deck. I mean, come on. Can we just be satisfied that our politics is insane?

Maybe some are now but that doesn't explain even half of the lights 😅
