Before the launch of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo had to do something to captivate players after the Wii U's failure. They decided to create mobile games (mostly) based on their own IPs! Starting with Miitomo, a successor to Tomodachi Life, then Super Mario Run, an autorunner based on the New Super Mario Bros series!
Some titles are still played today, like Fire Emblem Heroes and Mario Kart Tour, some ended support, like Miitomo, Dragalia Lost and Dr. Mario World. And others, like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, faded into obscurity, possibly as a result of new titles coming to consoles.
