This is a short documentary about Herber de Keizer , one of the last traditional rope-makers in the Netherlands.
The appeal of the roper is almost extinct due to industrialization and the use of synthetic materials.
Herber solely shows his craft at fairs and markets to a small group of interested viewers.

Wonderful! I bought a child’s cord maker that ran on batteries, but it either didn’t come with the piece that travels between the twisted strands to make the final cord, or I lost it not knowing what it was for. Now I can make one and the cord maker will be useful! Elizabeth Wayland-Barber, a historic textile expert suggests that cording and string was one of the first human inventions. So necessary for bunching items like the feet of caught fowl, sticks for fuel, etc. also that still useful string bag for food shopping in the wild! Where there are string bags the idea of nets mirrors it!
