I thoroughly enjoyed this long video. I love wearing makeup because it makes me look closer to how I see myself in my head. Also the ritual, the creative aspect & the community like you said. Discovering the beauty community was such an outlet for me & meeting new friends. I know we don't know each other well, but I consider you my friend. You, Sarah Rose, Christina Chang & Kelly Gooch are my favorite panners. I think I don't follow as much panning today because I get overwhelmed with all the projects. I want to remember what everyone is working on. I suppose I get "emotionally invested" to a products journey lol. That was a really great analogy about the hamburger. For months now I haven't had the urge to shop but suddenly I do. I'm finding just waiting it out is the best remedy for me. Plus using products I have to get the same effect really helps. I'm really looking forward to your "shop with me" videos.

And I agree, it can be a lot trying to keep up with everyone's projects, sometimes just having them play in the background is soothing for me. And I'm glad you're looking forward to the 'shop with me' videos because I'm editing it now and it's like 48 minutes long! haha

I loved this video and would definitely love to watch a Shop With Me a La Sarah Rose! And that’s cool that you watch Shawna too-her channel is so thought-provoking! And by the way, you explained the law of diminishing returns really well IMO! Or at least that’s exactly how I remember it being explained to me in college Econ 😂

Mascara is always my last step, so I just do setting spray right before that and have never had any running issues in my eye makeup.

I went years without wearing makeup. At first, seeing myself without eyeliner and mascara was weird, but I really became comfortable with my own face. So, now, when I wear makeup, it isn't out of insecurity. I enjoy the process and the artistic outlet these days. I am an impulsive person, and I am very self indulgent so, I have to keep my spending habits in check. I began the year with the goal to not buy makeup until Black Friday sales begin. It's getting harder, but the only way I am okay with caving early is to reward myself for quitting smoking. If I can get myself to quit, I think I will reward myself. I quit a few years ago, and when I did, I bribed myself with makeup. If I am able to quit smoking long term that will save me more money that not buying makeuo will.

I don' t specifically do project panning but I do follow a few projects like deck of panning and Happy hour, no pan left behind, and ten uses. It helps me explore my collection and try things I might overlook. I am like you, makeup is self care and me time, and beauty and living art, and a pan I got naturally means we had a lot of beautiful time together that I very much enjoyed. I do prioritize using as much as I can of older products so we can spend some time together before they go, but my lipstick collection is too large to use anything but gloss up before it expires, and I have accepted that it is a joy to have, swatch and use without expecting them to be used up. I am currently doing two out one in for lip products this year to trim it just a little though.

I feel like with most of stuff I usually get 1 or even 2 products, but when it comes to eyeshadows, I just like buying many even though 80% of them are similar color story😬😕

I love hearing your thoughts and you mentioned a lot of good things about panning consumption and the community. Makeup is my joy in the morning as well it always makes me happy. And I feel the same about eyeshadow right now- it needs to be amazing or I am not going to bring it into my stash. That being said there is a palette coming out in a few days I looked at and said yes that is unique and something I don't have and I want. I have been getting better at talking myself out of buying things by reminding myself of my rules and slowly seeing progress it kills the need to buy things when panning is happening and all the things start to move together! It is really slow for me right now but each week I allow myself to play with things I am not panning so I can keep being creative and using everything not just hyper focusing and its been fun to pick out the items every day!
