I found the channel with Terry Rowland by accident! find her here and see how she explains this scrappy quilt! I'll wait while you pop over!
• Color Wash Quilt Scrap...
Thank you so much Terry for your inspiring work! I am hooked! We all generate scraps making 'proper' quilts and I know I am not alone with my boxes full of all the colours of the rainbow.
This is a quilt that I will make over many weeks in the odd few hours between all the other things I like to make!
Thank you to everyone who bought a calendar in my shop - here -www.thelasthomelyhouse.co.uk
I ordered some more and my lovely Printers have assured me they will be back in stock very soon!
jigsaws, books, candles, tea towels .... and very soon, calendars again.
Over on Patreon, I will be posting my October Diary on Wednesday.$5 for over an hour of behind the scenes at The Last Homely House. $10 for the weekly One More Videos on Fridays and the 'repostings' of the Quiltalongs every Tuesday. Polls too and the odd catch up photo post now and then. My Patrons support me in all the things I do so they benefit everyone on The lime Green Sofa and I am really grateful for every one of them.
join them here!
www.thelasthomelyhouse.co.uk
Thank you so much for joining me here. This week there will be more videos on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday! So you should make sure your notification is turned on next to the Subscribe Button so you'll hear about them all!
See you soon!
Love
Kate

I am a self-taught quilter. I learned during the pandemic, alone, watching videos. Nobody in my family quilts. My Mom was English, and died many years ago. A part of me likes to think of you as my second Mom, teaching me not only how to quilt but also to find joy in these uncertain times. Thank you.

Just a note: Terry Rowland is from my neck of the woods -- Alberta, Canada. She's a member of the Canadian Quilters Association and a well-known teacher in these parts. I *thought* when you mentioned her name that I recognized it, and I was right! I've never met nor taken a class from her, but she is very talented and creative, and popular with guilds who've had her as a teacher and/or workshop leader. Thanks for mentioning a Canadian as your inspiration! 😊

This technique is one that I want to try. What fun it looks to be. I want to express my thanks to Anna for filming but also for selecting such beautiful music as a background for this video. The music truly enhances the feeling of the calm and creativity that is happening on the video. So many times people will chose music that will “send you to the moon” and it overpowers the video and makes it an awful experience. Thanks to you both…………………

Hello, I am so happy to have found you! I think I’m calling myself an intermediate quilter at this point, all self-taught over the last seven or so years. I did know how to sew from childhood, but I didn’t really think about quilting until my Mom died and and I wanted to do something with her fabric stash. So I have made about 12 quilts since then and have really caught the fever. I love scrappy quilts and this one looks particularly useful for using some smaller pieces. Anyway, glad to be here, new subscriber. Peace from Ohio … (Meant to put this on the main comments page, but oh well …)

Kate, I've been meaning to do a Terry Rowland inspired colorwash quilt for a while. Your video helped push me forward, and inspired me to make a such a quilt ffom my scrap bins. I like that wonky is okay. In fact I'm taking that idea just a little further. My blocks are made up of various size scraps--where I'm not worrying about the size of tye blocks right now. I've made about 55 blocks so far in about a dozen sizes. I've done a couple of scrapy layouts with those blocks and I am loving the scappy, non-traditional way they are beginning to come together. I know that I'll probably cut down the number different sizes to make it easier to piece, but for now I'm loving the organic process of making the blocks. Your calm, unhurried manner have inspired me. Thank you. BTW I've seen the video with your final quilt layout-- beautiful!

Let's just say we don't want to know what full blown pneumonia is like. It took 3 courses of antibiotics to get rid of it. Recuperation was still going on in August. So take extra good care of yourself. 🫖

Lovely to have found you Kate. I did as you suggested and went to see Terry first, then came back to you. Love you both and feel inspired to tackle Mount Scrapmore tomorrow! Thanks.

I bought a magnetic whiteboard on wheels (and magnets) for my design board as I don’t have wall space. So in theory since it’s double sided I can have 2 quilts 44x68 inches in the design phase 😉 This is giving me ideas about how to play with my scraps 🎉

What a wonderful idea, got to admit, I’ve been intrigued about magnets from centuries ago :)

Sounds great but I dont even think our one bed flat could fit that in. My husband seems to want space as well as all my craft ideas and UFOs I wonder why?

@@pamelaselway6669 I live in a 1 bed flat the space needed for my whiteboard is 22 by 50 inches and it makes a great screen to hide my messy work table in the corner of my living room.

It’s so interesting to see how this colorwash quilt is made. Thank you Kate for giving us Terry’s info. One day soon I shall start on this project.

I've just watched this for the second time. I made another quilt from Terry's blocks -- such a fun way to use up scraps! I ended up not doing a colour wash...more of a higgledy piggledy. Fun!
