The absolute Best Worst times of my life. For some reason I miss being on ship B.S. in the berthing. Enjoy it while it lasts. I get depressed thinking that I will never have that close bond with anyone ever again. Its a ride for sure.

@SamTheoddMan8 ай бұрын
My time with 1/1 is shown the most, was an arty FO so we spent most the time with whatever unit we were attached to or whichever needed an observer to train with. 1/1 and 2/1 are seen here the most. 1/11 was the home unit.

Depends about what you want man that’s not an answer I can give you, or anyone else for that matter. I would say however out of all the branches it’s the least caught up in the social politics you see in news if that’s something you care about. Your still gonna sacrifice your entire being to the wills of those in charge of you for 4 years and it’s not something many people really think of. It’s a truly miserable experience at times and the good times are few but truly special. I don’t regret it but I know a lot who do.
@SyBernot8 ай бұрын
@@SamTheoddMan That's truth. Semper Fi only goes one way and the name of the game is service, not a job or adventure (but you can have both of those at times if you're lucky), Something about it though really gets you. It's almost a drug, you know it's bad for your long term existence but it gives you something nothing else will and you just keep with it because you can't get that anywhere else. I feel like there's a scientific paper here somewhere. If there were some real way to put into words this experience I feel our ranks would swell, but it's like describing the flavor of salt, it's salty, anyone that has never tasted salt just can not relate so the description just falls off a cliff. And salty isn't for everybody so how do you get the people that will love salt to try salt and none of the others?
@SamTheoddMan8 ай бұрын
@@SyBernot the reference to salt was a damn good analogy. Also, I think it’s Stockholm syndrome your referencing. The trauma bonding is real.
@SyBernot8 ай бұрын
@@SamTheoddMan thing is I'm not even salty about the trauma because I get to be brothers with people like you.
