Fantastic tone mate, are these pickups stock? I'm thinking about replacing my hss american strat as it doesn't have that old school tone unfortunately. I'm not sure if it's the guitar or the pickups. Also your guitar looks incredible from this angle, thanks for the great lessons by the way.

@@Heybuditsme A victory V40 Deluxe. It's an amazing amp. It doesn't sound much like a Fender but it's very neutral, versatile and more modern. Incredible pedal platform.

@@nickardasis4 ok well consider that he's playing a Vox AC15 if you're going tone chasing.

Yup! Just the stock pickups - they're extremely low output, which contributes to the glassy tone.
@nickardasis4
@nickardasis4 4 жыл бұрын
@@EricHaugenGuitar that's probably the reason. I'm looking to get a vintage set as well, very low output like 50s style. I want that woody, resonant tone that old strats have. Thanks for the reply.

Eric I am so glad I found your channel, my wife not so much, she even took the credit card away from me, luckily I know my PayPal account password by heart :) A request if I may: Clapton Old Love would be interesting to see what you could do with that epic solo, regards

Ha! Thanks Jean! It's been a while since I dissected some Clapton - "Old Love" would indeed be a good one to take a look at - I'll add it to my list!

Eric, I love your lessons! Would you ever consider deconstructing & teaching "Kingdom of Love" from Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys/Robyn Hitchcock? The chord structures are simple enough, but the guitar run is tricky and reminds me a bit of the Bill Frisell motifs you point out in your Knopfleresque version of "Jealous Guy." I haven't been able to decipher it, and the tones range from jarring, punk/prog, to glassy Strat jangle. And then there are the dark, trippy words! Also good & hard to figure out is Robyn's tune "Positive Vibrations." Again, unusual chord voicing. Check it out! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f6qphZWK1pbHeZs.html

@@EricHaugenGuitar Yup, he's awesome. I've seen him a bunch. I know he often uses open tunings for his folkier stuff, but I think "Kingdom of Love" is in standard, concert tuning. There are some live clips on YT from the 80's where you can kind of see what he's doing. I've interviewed & written about him a bunch. Check it out below. Thanks for all your lessons; they are always interesting and really helpful! www.star-revue.com/only-the-stones-remain/
