Do you know what "Koryoin" is? They're a group of Koreans who were displaced, but continued to speak Korean and keep korean culture alive. Here's a story about two Koryoin falling in love. There's even a third generation living in Korea

Korean government should be sponsoring language schools in Koryo-saram areas internationally. Won't be the magic bullet, but any population growth / immigration is a positive to offset the low birth rate.

YES!! I agree. Growing up in the US, I would’ve died to learn Korean. And please let the government and country know that some Korean adoptees are raised by loving non-Koreans, but some adoptees are not. They are not loved. They would have been better off with their birth parents. I know of the baby box but there shouldn’t be one. Single pregnant women should be accepted in Korean culture to keep Koreans continue with their culture.

Korea supports about 250 schools named King Sejong Institute in 52 countries. As far as I know, the tuition is free. If you have your will, you can study Korean enough.

There shouldn’t be anything detrimental to their youngest daughter…they have two older children that are successfully going to school in Korea. Her mother speaks to her in their first country’s language, Russian. No problem. Her mind will easily learn Korean because that’s the dominant language. Both my kids speak our native language (Hawaiian) and function just fine in English. They attended Hawaiian Immersion schools and they both graduated from college. We have to rid ourselves of that fear because knowing more than one language broadens our way of thinking and understanding. It also perpetuates culture and the legacy our families and elders left for us. Apologies if I’ve offended anyone, but reading that question surprised me that someone nowadays would have that old mindset about language acquisition.

I learned about Koryoins when I matched with a guy from Kazakhstan years ago. He's Koryoin as well and pretty much explained about his heritage

Koryoin live in Eastern Europe, Russia or Central Asia. The total population is about 500,000. Most Koryoin belong to a wealthy group among their ethnic minority.

I am a Korean, and the solution to Korea's population decline is to naturalize large numbers of Korean minorities living in Eurasia to Korea. The population of Koryeo people is 500,000. I think the population solution is to naturalize them to Korea and have them live in Korea while giving birth to many offspring. And I think that the solution to the population decline is to meet and get married while interacting with many Koryeo people and mainland Koreans.

Why they gotta be Korean? Korean has a lot of foreign workers the most realistic and easy solution to Korea's population decline would be to naturalize the foreigners. They are more than happy to adhere to the Korean culture and customs.

@@daturax Most workers in Korea are Southeast Asian. They are very dirty and full of diseases. Therefore, there is a high possibility that there will be side effects if you marry a Korean. And Koreans prefer white people. However, poor Koreans have no choice but to marry poor Southeast Asians, but these days, the marriage divorce rate with Southeast Asian women is increasing significantly. Personally, I wish Mongolian or Central Asian women would marry Koreans.

They look more Mongolian, which makes sense since Mongolia borders Russia. There was probably mixing through the generations.

They have lived in an area cut off from the mainland of Korea for a long time, and the former Soviet Union is where they were born. Humans can change their appearance depending on the climate and environment of the area where they live, and the food they eat. The logic of my words can also be found in the research papers of anthropologists.

Koreans are more genetically closer to Mongolians than they are to other East Asian ethnicity groups actually.

Their grandparents first lived in far east of Russia in Sakhalin island. Then they were deported to Central Asia, to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Your logic still doesn't make sense, just because a country shares borders with some countries doesn't make people living in that country look like people from bordering country. Plus Koryoins rarely marry outside their ethnicity. Even if they mixed they would've mix with the local people in Central Asia, like with Tajiks and Uzbeks, who don't really look Mongolian, and again these people are also very traditional and conservative. Marriage outside their ethnicity and religion is highly critisized in their culture. These Koryoins look Korean. The reason why you think they don't look like ones is because women don't do their makeup the way South Koreans do. Morena's eyebrows a tattoed and thin with high arch, which you rarely see in South Korea. Koryoin men don't really take care of their physical appearence like Southerners do, since they were raised in post Soviet country in a highly patriarchal society where men are required to be masculine, hence the "unpolished" look of Valeri.

Если вы не знаете , что корейцы на диалекте Сатури. Я часто вижу корейцев, которые говорят, что из депортировали с Сахалина , но на Сахалине не было русской армии. Японцы в 1947 ушли с Сахалина . Я не понимаю почему этнические корейцы хотят быть русскими, а жить в Корее . Если хотите быть корейцами, то перестаньте косить под русских, вы все равно не хотите служить в русской армии.

The stimulus for Koreans to migrate to Russia was the scarcity of land in Korea, the benevolent attitude of Russian officials towards migrants, and the Japanese occupation of Korea since 1905. I wonder if Russia gives them special pensions for people if they were persecuted or deported during Stalin time. In europe, my parents receive special heir pension because grandparents were persecuted and deported to Romania during 1940-1945. They lost their homes and had nothing. Many suffered because of the communist regime.

I don’t know why they want their kids to learn Russian (and so put daughter in the Russian daycare) if they live in Korea now and their kids’ friends will all be speaking Korean in school.

I think many parents from different cultural heritages are keen that their children are able to know about and retain links to where their parents came from. Maybe the kids will want to go and live in Russia or Uzbekistan some day.

That’s not enough. Also, it’s usually not a psychologically good idea for parents to teach their own children. Similar reason why no matter how good a doctor is, they don’t treat their own family members, unless in case of emergency.

Because they are Russian? What kind of question is this? They are both Korean and Russian. That is their culture. Why would they try to erase it?
