This is a fan animatic I illustrated from the first Gaunt's Ghosts novel, First & Only.
This scene is one of my favourites, right from the beginning of this exceptional book.
This work is part of a personal project to illustrate my favourite moments from this series and I'm working through the books in chronological order.

These animatics are astonishingly beautiful. There's something I find so appealing about the barebones, static nature of them. It's almost like... less is more, somehow.

Toby Longworth narrates a good chunk of gaunts ghosts very worth it man is excellent
