A method of mixing colors on the canvas and creating a base for painting
What colors we choose for our painting, how do we put them inside our painting.
We can only answer these questions if we have an idea of what we are going to do on the painting because we know how to get the colors we would use.
If we mix colors and we like them and they are necessary and essential for the painting we are going to perform, it will be our care to note how we obtained them because once we know how to mix the colors to obtain the colors we want we will be able to have a palette that it will allow us to deal with any representation because we would know how to juxtapose or overlap them and therefore we will already know what kind of result we could obtain.
The importance of the choice of color is therefore fundamental.
In this painting I mix the colors directly on the canvas, isolating them in squares according to a predetermined pattern that will allow me to paint over them while maintaining the predominance of the color I have formed in which point.
A sort of decomposition of the painting into the main colors that is done before starting to paint.
So the video will be divided into two parts, the first where I will get the colors and the second where I will make the painting.
While I am doing this painting I would like to pay homage to a great painter who is often the occasion of bitter discussions and that is to say of Marc Rothko, and we will see how he too will help us unravel a history of color that has crossed a part of the world in the second half of the century that preceded us.
But let's let the images speak and then
follow the video to the end and you will understand better what I'm talking about.
