man, hearing Starlo's theme leitmotif in here is insane

creating a piece of fiction where the viewer/player knows how its going to end is incredibly difficult, especially when setting up the emotional beats. going into UTY, we all knew it had to end with Clover losing their life in some capacity. and yet this entire sequence, of Clover seeing the pain that Ceroba experienced, the reason she was so driven, it absolutely blew me out of the water, ESPECIALLY with Clover's decision to let go of their soul and rest at the end. It shows that this fight wasn't about them holding on to living so they might go home, but holding on to living so Ceroba might finally grieve and move forward. And of course, Clover's choice to give up their soul. It felt, to me, like they were finally doing the thing they wanted. Everyone else wanted them to go back home to their family, or stay with them as their friend, or live on in some capacity, but when Clover realized why the five humans were dead, and why their souls were perserved, they decided that _that_ was where their Justice lay. They had the answers, and they judged the monsters as having committed a reasonable sacrifice in the name of self defense and vindication, and they gave themselves to that vindication. They made the choice for themselves, and having known going in that Clover had to die, I have never wanted more for something to break its own rules and violate its own timeline more than then. And yet, I wouldn't have been satisfied ant other way. So well done.

Relating Ceroba with Asriel. you can tell both can be related because they both lost someone who they have been close to for a long time, and both this and Hopes and Dreams represents the the feeling of a true broken heart truly a perfect melody.

Everyone talks about the hopes and dreams part but the cowboy one at 1:49 really hit me the most ! An amazing fight that got me in tears as I've rarely been before, bravo for this masterpiece !

If toby doesn’t give any nods to undertale yellow imma be mad. This story was unbelievably good, and FAR MORE EFFORT has been put into it, THAN ANY other undertale fan game. That’s my opinion anyways.

During my first playthrough of undertale yellow, I had to constantly remind myself that this was a fangame, because boy, it sure didn't feel like it.

When Undertale came out, I wasn't able to go in unspoiled because, unfortunately, the fandom was absolutely horrible at marking or avoiding talking about spoilers. So when I went into it, I.... well, I liked it, but I didn't get to have the emotional resonance with Asriel everyone else did because I knew all about it going in. Thank you for giving me the chance to have what I wasn't allowed to the first time. Ceroba is one of my favorite final bosses ever made.

The sprites, music, and writing were all 10/10 throughout this entire experience. Honestly on the same level as Undertale for me. Everyone who worked on this should be really proud!!! CLOVER IS THE GOAT!!!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect to get that Undertale ending feeling with Yellow, but I did 7 years later, and the emotion only grew

i mean this bro, this thing deserves to be folded into the official umbrella of the series somehow. if not directly canon, it is in my opinion an essential part of the series, and should be remembered as such. what a spectacular thing you've made here.

I only died twice so imagine my surprise when I see people struggling on the fight. I found the first phase to have the hardest attacks so I died twice there. The acts carried me for the rest of the phases. I have to say though, this is easily one of the best final bosses I have ever experienced.

Not gonna lie, Ceroba was all like, "Can I have your soul, please?" And I was all like, "Yes."

Man can't really stay mad at one of the hardest bosses I've faced with such a banger soundtrack.

I felt so bad for Ceroba. What she did wasn’t right but in her position I could see myself doing the same thing. If my husband died and I accidentally sentenced my child to a near inevitable death I wouldn’t be making good choices either. I didn’t want to fight someone who was ultimately a mother consumed by grief and desperation. Imagine my relief when she didn’t have to die and Clover offered their soul, I would’ve done that if it was a choice.

I never thought this game would ever come out. I’d been disappointed by project after project since middle school. This coming out, this December was everything and more. The sprite work, the soundtracks, the mechanics, the writing OH MY GOSH the writing. I finished it at midnight and goddamn was it perfect. Thank you and your team for the amazing work!

It’s funny, the two extreme endings(Kill no one or kill everyone) in this game have you face a character that you see throughout, but tapping into a magic artifact that can only be destroyed by Justice’s special power, with Flowey reprising his role as the ultimate threat in the Neutral run, with his prototype of Omega Flowey within his mind.

This was so Incredible and the ending felt amazing. This games music man was all so good. Made me feel how I felt about UT Back in 2015, Fantastic game. Im gonna miss these characters I hope you guys do a dev stream where you talk more about the game and stuff think that would be cool. All in all Mother's love broke me near the end what a beautify well made fight and song.

i love A Mother's Love so much. it's so fitting imo for a pacifist final boss and just. gets you pumped during the battle lol. love it alot. edit: also i've seen people say they think the boss is too long but. asriel is just as long?? im pretty sure i havent played it in a while actually. ooh now that i think about it doing a pacifist playthrough of undertale yellow and then regular undertale would be an interesting experience. anyway as i was saying i think the pacifist boss for uty is as long as it needs to be lol ALSO THAT GUITAR RIFF AT 2:46 ouGGhh...... so good bro.

SPOILERS BELOW Ceroba's story was beautiful. Throughout her fight I was struck by how much it revealed about her. And honestly, I feel really bad for her. After Chujin's death, she fixated on fulfilling his final request. By the time Kanako discovered it and asked to be involved, it didn't seem like Ceroba was in a state of mind to think logically and keep her out of it. When we meet Ceroba, she's apathetic about loss of life- Whether that be hers, or Clover's. The only thing she is trying to do is complete Chujin's final experiment. Unfortunately the pacifist ending broke and lagged for me halfway through the ending, so I will need to replay it to actually know how it finishes. But from what I saw, it looks like Ceroba is finally getting a chance to grieve. Her friends know considerably more now, and have accepted her despite mistakes she made. I have no clue what happens in neutral as I haven't played it yet, but I hope she survives it as well. I think that she does deserve to reunite with Kanako some day, post UT True pacifist, once she's had more time to heal. I appreciate the amount of gentleness and care taken in the narrative treatment of Ceroba. She is one of the best written characters I have seen in a very long time, and her story has touched me more than anything else ingame. Thank you for creating such a wonderful character. And here's hoping that some day, some how, she might get a chance at a happier beginning.

I still can't get over how MasterSword went from a guy who did funny KZfaqr remixes to creating a truly worthy successor to the original Undertale. The sheer dedication to not only the soundtrack, but every aspect of this game is awe inspiring!

I want to Wholeheartedly express my thanks for this game. I just finished the Pacifist run myself and this story was incredible. I felt like i did playing the og game. The music, the sprite work, and the story was incredible. The characters are fantastic and i truly hope this game gets the recognition it deserves. Also i died alot cause im beans at these games but its hard to be mad when the music is a banger 😂 THANKS AGAIN FOR MAKING SUCH A GREAT GAME ❤

I love how each phase of the music feels like a different step in Ceroba's grief. The first phase is angry, powerful, sporting first an foremost Kanako's theme followed by an outburst of guitar and chorus. It shows what Ceroba can't hide under her mask, all that unveils itself when she refuses to get closer, refuses to do anything but fight. But then there's that first scene, a scene showing you what truly you already know, Chujin's death due to his own experiments, but this time not from a tape. This time it's from Ceroba's perspective, raw and personal. Then the mask starts to crack. A sadder side is shown with that piano, and the melodies of her friends play, to show what Ceroba has lost, and what she is losing by doing this. The music is less outraged and judgmental now, but the tension still remains, this is still more to be done. And finally you see the truth, the horrible truth that you likely pieced together since the end of Chujin's tapes, the ones begging this truth not to be true, and yet you can deny it no longer. And of course with your judgement, Ceroba's anger returns. She screams and lashes out, but, with your newfound knowledge, with the ability to fully know what Ceroba has done and what she's been through, a chord of hope strikes in the music too. Once Upon a Time plays, your journey is at an end, the mask is nearly broken. All you have to do is withstand her, let her raw grief fizzle out as you wear down her shield. That is justice. Not judging Ceroba for her crimes, but bringing her to face them, letting her hide no longer. Until finally, she too can accept what she's done.

fucking loved this fight, the music was amazing along with the astonishing spritework. the buildup to it was great too and i'd say it even rivals asriel's fight in terms of how emotionally charged it all is

After listening to this ost some times, I realized how the motif at 2:32 and 4:26 sounds a bit like the Gerudo Desert theme from the Zelda games, while the part in 3:25 reminds me of the Zora theme.

If you think about it, Toriel could have easly go this way. Instead, she moved on and decided to take care of not losing any other child for years, or at least as long as she can.

People all talking about the intense parts. The almost lullaby sounding part at 2:02 hits like a freight train to the soul tho. I’m also fairly certain it uses the same instrument as fallen down, which makes the obvious in retrospect character comparison to toriel.

The only time i realized how important defense was, I was using the silver scarf since the start, then i literally got through every phase thinking it was the end, it was not. i gave up after 5hours of trying and reset, my own path of justice and judgement only carried me so far, it wasnt enough at ALL

holy hell I wish I could replay the game again for the first time, this fight ALONE was probably peak Undertale fangame. I remember I went into this game blind (which I rarely do) and every gag, every encounter and every character felt like how it felt to play Undertale for the first time. this genuinely feels like toby fox made this as a silly little Kickstarter game that started it all 8 years ago. so good job.
