Serial rapists should never be let out of prison, I don't care if they behave well in prison, they are not rehabilitable, period. I do not care if they've served their sentence, we have to consider the safety of people outside first, this should be the priority, not the rehabilitation of rapists.

@@pluutoop What?? Holy crap! So, you're saying that "men rule the world AND most [men] don't believe rape is a crime," yet the men who apparently rule the world have chosen to pass laws all over the world to make rape illegal while organizing and comprising the police and judicial systems to catch, prosecute, and imprison these non-criminals? Why would they do that? For show? Why tho? Where are your sources that support your claim? Please share! You're not using facts or logic to make claim, you're using your own biased personal emotions to make broad generalizations that vilify a specific group of people, which makes you a bigot spreading hate. Please stop. Whatever your father might have taught you, most men are not evil. Most men, just like most women, understand that rape is abhorrent and fundamentally and unequivocally wrong. Men are equally as human as women and vice versa. There are evil men. There are evil women. Some believe there are non-gender people, and if so, there are evil people among them as well. For example, bigots willfully spreading hate and prejudice know no gender. Take note.

Violence against men (perpetrated by other men) is much more acceptable than violence against women. Evidence of that can be seen in crime statistics. Men are far more likely to be the victim of violent crime than women, because... again, violence against women is not in any way considered acceptable in our culture (the same is true in all western countries, and almost almost all countries overall, with just a few notable exceptions that you can probably guess).

@@AgeUgeMuumi Of course, in most cases it's men being violent against other men. That's little comfort for the victims, don't you think? It does get pushed to the side. It is inconvenient. Look at all of these campaigns, activists, KZfaq comments and whatnot... everyone wants to "end violence against women" as if that's the biggest issue to deal with. It's not. Violence is a problem, and women are not the main targets of violence. That's because, whether you choose to believe it or not, violence against women is not tolerated in society. Your last question is just silly. What am I supposed to do, just generally in my day to day life, to stop violence against men or women? I'm not a police officer. I'm not f--king Batman. I don't know anyone who attacks people. Should I just call my friends randomly and remind them every now and then, "Don't attack anyone today, okay buddy?" And the prisons full of men would tend to disagree with you that men don't hold other men accountable for their actions, because most of the officers, judges and attorneys who put them in prison are men. Quite simply, that's not my job.

Indeed, they shouldn't have, some males are just too dangerous to live in a broader community. What is even more devastating is the fact that perpetrator (as well as his family who happened to report their concerns!) of this crime knew that: he's obviously very much self-aware what he's capable of and that no successful form of therapeutic measures exist to control his urges. Prolonged history of violence, especially prolific cases of sexual violence towards children and women, should be a red band (not just a flag) to keep some men in isolation for life. It is satysfying that reaction of the government and criminal justice system was quick and immediate. That is, sadly, more than I could ever say about authorities in my motherland.

If we choose to not be progressive (or even regressive), then we will keep criminals like this off the streets. But at the same time, it heightens the risk of jailing innocents and heightens the risk of jailing people for petty crimes. i am sure you are a supporter of criminal justice reform so it doesn't make sense for you to say, "Seriously unsure why a violent registered rapist was allowed out again."

I had a feeling this was the case you’d cover. Failed justice system, no one violent or who has raped before can EVER be rehabilitated. I have encountered him before in my line of work not long after this happened and can tell you he is as evil as they come. Rest In Peace Jill x

WTF? @ 22:20 they display a news article about Bayley pleading guilty to Jill's murder on Fri.5 of April 2013. And then @ 26:08 on Tues, 25 of June 2013 they display a news article about tougher parole laws. Yet...along the side of both articles the TOP STORIES listed are ALL pertaining to COVID???? What on earth is going on here? Anyone??

I’m Aussie and remember this so well. Jills story touched me to the core as it happened 3 days after my mother passed away, both of my parents were Irish and because of this I will never forget Jill. She was beautiful inside and out and this evil should never have happened.

Such an absolute tragedy. The system let her and her loved ones down horribly. It also failed his other unfortunate innocent victims. RIP beautiful angel.

Good for the journalist that brought his rap sheet to the light. This is a horrific case. Just almost unbelievable!!! What a great guy this Tom is. The white ribbon campaign is a great idea. He is absolutely correct!!! They did not protect the innocent. It does send a very disturbing message. Violent men and the silence of other men. Truer words were never spoken. God bless you Tom.

I remember this clearly. It was devastating such a beautiful women’s life was taken away by a predator. Our judicial system was at fault here by letting a known dangerous predator on parole roam the streets. You did a great job on this piece. Thank you.

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to watch this one. But I did. Still feels like it happened yesterday. I often walk past that alleyway in Brunswick and think of dear Jill each time. Wish there was a street art mural there to memorialise her. I refuse not to walk alone on Sydney Road at night, but my guard is definitely always up. I recall that at first the police heavily suspected Tom her husband, he was really put through the wringer. But he cooperated with police and fortunately that CCTV footage was discovered. RIP Irish Angel. 🇮🇪🖤

The justice system failed at so many levels in this one. Mad respect for her husband for speaking out for his other victims as well, especially since so many people (and police forces) consider sex workers the "less dead."

Being an Aussie I remember this case so well. It certainly has stuck with us, especially in Victoria where I live and where this happened. We really need a huge change to our justice system so monsters like this guy stay off our streets. Thanks for doing such a great job on this video, love your channel 🇦🇺

@Cole Phelps it’s more the parole system I refer to when it comes to this case. It was known the perpetrator was several times over a convicted rapist and out on parole when this happened. Additionally, in my opinion we are far too lenient when sentencing serious offenders, particularly repeat offenders.

You can just see the evilness in his eyes. My heart goes out to Jill & her family, and to the other beautiful women hurt by this evil monster 😔💔🙏 I'm sickened that they even let this monster out at all, because that never should've happened whatsoever. He should be doing life without the possibility of parole and let him rot behind bars.

"A well-known known and dangerous sex offender" What was he doing on the streets? "Served 22 months of a 5 year sentence" for several attempted rapes. There's your problem right there. 5 years for attempted rape of several teenage strangers is not a sentence, it's a joke. These two statements alone clearly show the lack of importance attached to violence against women in Australia. Short prison sentences, probation, early release - add that to the general attitudes toward women from Parliament House to Football clubs (any code) and it's little wonder someone could say something like "I didn´t want to hurt her, just rape her". I'm so glad I don´t live in Australia anymore.

Sadly it's definitely not just Australia. An Irish judge gave a NON- CUSTODIAL sentence to a man who broke into a deaf woman's house and raped her in the room next to her sleeping children, the reason, his previous good character and the standing of his family in the community.....I shit you not. There was uproar and thankfully it was upped to 10 yrs, but this was in 2007 only! The attitude to sexual crimes in most parts of the world is still shocking!

No matter how many of these I watch they always shock me and fill me with horror. It’s terrifying that this could happen to you, your loved one or a colleague. She didn’t deserve to go through that she must have been petrified. Why can’t we walk around where ever we want, whenever we want without the threat of sick perverts who can rape and end your life if they want to? This makes me so sad.
