100% It's good for everyone. I know there are competitors with higher price points and this is a solid step for lowering the over all price. Avermedia did that to Elgato not too long ago with their 4K60 capture cards.

@@Activater Yeah I remember originally the price was $700 for a card that could do this. I feel once they start pushing for cards that can do this single capture cards will drop in price and these capture cards will be the main ones they'll push for streamers.

I just purchased one of these cards..So, can this card go into the spare PCIex16 slot that I have on my board? It doesn't fit the smaller x1 slot like my usb 3.0 port card does and the only other one I have is the x16 slot like the other one my video card uses.

just stumbled on this video i know it was posted quite some time ago haha. Was the Camera plugged into two capture cards? or did you just change the source of the exisiting one to the newer Capture card you installed?

Hey Dan! Yeah, I use a splitter to split my camera to 2 PCs. In this case the left camera was my stream pc and the one you see in OBS is my game PC with this capture card. 🙂

wish you tried to input color bars and looked at the vectorscope. coz the acasis i tried didn't show correct colors according to how color bars should look in a vectorscope ang rgb parade.

Interesting. I'll definitely look into that next time. I usually try to review things from a basic standpoint rather than super technical. However, ill give this a try soon. This card is my 3 favorite capture card our of the 10 or so I have.

@@Activater absolutely. My aim is to have it record simultaneously in four different instances of OBS. My understanding is that the decompression of the source is already being handled by the quad capture card, however OBS will point the recording/compression task to the GPU. Think a modern GPU can handle that X4?

@@Activater how'd you get yours to work? it requires a X4 - motherboards only have X1 and X16. Did you get yours to work in your X16 slot?

Okay but where is the HDMI output? If I wanna play on the console I capturing I need the hdmi source anyways. Or os the latency with this one low enough to directly play on my pc?

There's no loop through on this. Playing on OBS might be okay, but if you wanna bypass that whole thing, you could get an HDMI splitter and send the duplicated image to your TV or another monitor

have you ever tried to use it more than 8 hours? how's the performance?

Not for 8 hours, but I did use it for 6 hours straight with no hiccups with a PS4 Pro and a camera. It worked how it should details in this video were consistent after the 6 hours or usage. Ik this video is a little older but can I still play games at 4k whilst recording at 1080p?

Technically you'd need a capture card that had a 4k loop out. This card only allows capture of 1080p. However, you may be able to get this plus a HDMI splitter so that you can still send your 4k signal to a TV while capturing onto a PC with the 2080p cap card.

And that may be the best case, I also found another device that does allow 4k passthrough called the blackmagic decklink though it retails for more than double the price of this card 😵‍💫. Maybe you can do a review on that one day with the newer consoles, though I think I much rather prefer this card lol, recording at 4k takes up so much more storage than 1080 😅

Depending on the resolution you choose, options open up. At 1080p60, the video option is YUY2 which I think is 4:2:2?

Right? I thought that too, but I can't tell what specifications this card has in comparison. The Magewell has up to RGB 4:4:4 support, 12 bit color, and resolution support up to 2048 x 2160. Although that's a weird res.

Technically you can. However, just change the "output (scaled) resolution" to 1080p or whatever resolution you want. It'll convert it. I should have mentioned that 😅

Shame it can't accept 1440p or 4K and downscale to 1080p for the capture.

Yeah. I think in time, cards will get there. For now 1080p60 is still solid for most casters. Your viewers will see a downloaded image, but its still rad. However, for recording, you may as well get a 4k cap card and record each console/device separately.

@@Activater I am great with the 1080p 60 capture. I just like to game at 1440p 144Hz and very few cards seem to accept that as an input and downscale it to 1080p 60fps. Cloning displays with mixed rez/frequencies never worked well for me. I do have a 4K 60 capture card, and may look into this 4 input card as an accessory to allow retro consoles from a retro tink, and webcams, etc. Thanks for the video!

pcie hdmi capture cards are too expensive , compared to USB hdmi capture devices

Haven't really been checking around lately but I will say USB external cap cards usually have limitations that pcie overcomes. I personally also use a bunch of cameras/HDMI sources to make these cards valuable. Happy to help you find something if you need something specific!

Why are you testing 20 fps? I'd love to see what tests you performed in determining this to be a bad capture card. Everything I did when testing showed great results for 1080p @ 60fps which is what most people try to stream at.
