We build a DIY water transfer pump similar to an Adventure RV Water transfer pump. But we save over $500!
I make some improvements to the original pump I built several years ago by adding a switch and heavier duty banana clips to supply power via an Anderson plug.
We use clear re-inforced tubing to prevent any cavitation during pump operation as well as brass fittings for a secure and stable build.
It's water tight and compact and easy to store. It will transfer water into your camper so you don't have to do any heavy lifting of water jugs.
This can also be used as a camping shower if set up in a different configuration. We don't do that but we do build the pump. It's so cool in the case.
The bill of materials for this DIY build is at our Amazon store (see link below). Easy reference for the parts list.
RV Living at it's best.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"
Power system:
3250 watts of solar with Panasonic panels
30.1 KWH of Lithium batteries
2- 4K watt Magnum Inverters deliver power as if we are on shore power
2- 4K watt 240v Cotek Inverters deliver additional power for our LG Mini split HVAC and stove
Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL

That's awesome the pump didn't even need primed. Ima have to build one of these. In my class b I can siphon to fresh water tank using the sanitizing valving using motorhome water pump the issue is unless it's primed it won't pull water from a container. With this contraption I would be able to buy let's say 5 gallon jug of water at Walmart and feed fresh water tank.

Hey Mike, this needed a little help since I put some water in the hose first. I always do that to reduce any potential wear and tear on the pump. But it was sucking the water out of that bucket! Nice build. I recently picked up a 60 gallon bladder and will be picking up a duplicate water pump to the RV. Was planning to put it in a box at some point and this provides some good inspiration. FYI those DC connector are not Anderson connectors…just quick connectors. They are commonly used by Motorola but are pretty standard. I do like the real Anderson PowerPoles (red/black) as they are not only polarized but are also genderless. Makes it super handy when making up an assortment of connection cables and extensions. They are popular in the Ham Radio groups.
@bigtruckbigtravels
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the correction. Yep, they are a 2 pin molded connector. I had Anderson on my mind because I was looking at another project down the road which dealt with the RV battery connections. Appreciate helping to keep me straight. I really like the pump in a case because it's easier to handle, store, keeps it clean and all the parts are with it. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment. Glad you're along on the journey.😊

@@bigtruckbigtravels yup Anderson also makes the higher amperage connectors as well (often gray) that are also genderless/hermaphroditic. Look into the smaller ones with red/black housing. They can come with 15/30/45 amp pins.

Do you think the pump would get to hot in the box if it would to be used to pump water to a pressure washer for detailing. The harbor freight pump would be to loud in an enclosed 6 x 10 trailer. On top of that the videos I’ve seen on the harbor freight pumps they get warm and I would need to run a bypass back to the tank. So the pump don’t burn up.

No issues on overheating. It usually only takes me about 15-20 minutes of pumping to empty our tank on the truck so that's as long as I've run it.
