It is very irritating. The other annoying thing often seen in westerns is when someone, say the sheriff, is getting a shave and something urgent arises and instead of taking 15 seconds to rinse the shaving soap off they grab a towel and wipe it all off and rush outside, still with remnants of soap on their face. As if anyone in their right minds would do such a thing.

I am only trying to help you, so here we go. Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Does "Acts 3:19" mean that you need to repent (turn from your sins) to be saved? The answer is Bibical repentance does not mean (turn from sins for salvation). The biblical Greek word for repentance is "metanoia" which means "change of mind" "not turn from sins to be saved" changing one's mind from not believing the gospel to believing the Gospel of Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:1-7). Why is this so important? Because salvation is a free gift, not a self improvement program. Think about it, what power does a not yet saved person have to turn from sin? You are not given God's strength to overcome sins before you are saved. Essentially you are trying to be a co-redeemer by doing some of the saving yourself. "by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified." Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. People are not saved by believing a false gospel (trying to keep the law "turn from sins" for salvation). Salvation is received by "Grace through Faith" Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
