The paintwork on that model is indeed quite nicely done. Lining looks uniformly straight and even. Getting a vivid yellow on a black surface is an accomplishment.

Vdery thorough video I bought the Crimson Lake version direct from Dapol and am delighted with it. The model runs beautifully - right down to the proverbial "snail's pace". it was also very well packaged to survive the rigours of delivery drivers.

What a great review. I’m returning to the hobby after a 60 year hiatus and searched the web for sites that would bring me up to date. So much has changed my head is spinning. Having viewed several really good websites yours is one of two I’ve started to watch with any regularity. Nice job. Even without any layout at all I would buy one of these Dapol for display. Like you I have a “soft spot for unusual livery” So, it’s a score of 10 based on balance, technical details, video presentation, audience engagement. Informative and a pleasure to watch.

Glad to see this. Well done dapol for realising that there were a few English locos in Ireland for various reasons. A good review Jenny. With the amount of space in the body this would be a good candidate for a Bluetooth decoder, speaker and perhaps an on board battery so the loco is not dependent on rail contact for its power. Then you really could go to town on rusty, weed infested track!

Apparently only two Jinties were ever shipped over to Northern Ireland, where they became the NCC 'Y' class.

Yknow there was and probably is one unrestored still over there that was heavy spares for other ones. Imagine we got that and dragged it over to VIC to restore and regauge. Bingo we have thomas that can run on mornington, molden and healesville lines and rake in the money for them
