It has just received a more than excellent review here in Germany from "SPIEGEL"- Very interesting to learn more about this 20th century milestone in Art.

I had just finished James Kaplan's "Sinatra,The Chairman when I saw this books release,I bought it then and there and it doesnt disappoint.The writing is insightful and incisive to a high degree, same as in his Sinatra volumes..Please Mr Kaplan write a book on Bill Evans next !

Hold up! A “niche music” you say. Some niche, bro. I traveled the world for over 30 years during the 80s, 90s, and 2000s and everywhere I ventured for relaxing (parks, chic boulevards, hip outdoor scenes and open-air dining establishments) young cats were playing (or at least trying to) the music of the immortal Miles Davis septet of the late 1950s. They wanted to impress anyone within reach. I’m talking Paris, Bordeaux, Brussels, Tokyo, Osaka just for starters. The music has UNIVERSAL appeal, bro! It’s infectious for heavens sake. It reaches everyone, especially the young cats who want to “ swing” and be like Miles (the good and transcendent Miles, not the Prince of Darkness ogre). You should know that by now. Whether that amounts to anything commercially for them and the lurking grifters is an entirely different matter.
