Pacific Arc Tig Welding

Pacific Arc Tig Welding

3 жыл бұрын

I FINALLY FINISHED this new Metal Art piece where I tried painting over my Tig Welds.... and definitely was ambitious with this one...maybe too ambitious. But hey, I gotta try new things to learn and get better! I had the idea to try a couple new techniques in this project, and I'm super glad I did. Although it was INSANELY TEDIOUS and I almost went insane trying to do it, I'm really pumped with how it turned out.
I hope you enjoy this project! Check out more of my Tig Welding Art videos below!

So good! Loving your work Champ. I'm a 50yo Music Exec in Sydney that has never thought about welding in my life until lock down. A friend gave me a go of his (dial'ed in) machine & I was hooked. I then bought a machine of my own. We are still in lock down in Sydney, so this has been a life saver....especially considering I basically sell tickets for a living ;) Thank you & keep up the great work. I noticed you do substantial welds stretches to hold your workpiece to the bench (assuming it is welded to the bench). Is that how you avoid warping? How thick is your blank workpiece? Awesome welding and artwork, BTW.

Acetone might work better than laquer thinner depending on what kind of paint youre using. Its definitely worth a try. Otherwise you can rubbing petroleum jelly onto the dots before you paint so the paint won't stick to the metal. Something ive done alot. The jelly is like a liquid masking tape

Maybe some dot stickers for the welded dots. Trim with a knife if any are too big for the weld dot or go back after with a tiny touch up brush if any are too big. Mad welding skill though. You could try something like a cotton bud (not sure if you call them that over there, the thing you clean inside your ear with) to wipe away paint rather than a brush. It might be quicker if you can use a bit of a firmer scrubbing action. Or maybe a lint free cloth over the end of a pencil / round bar off cut? Have you thought about learning some leather work / carving to integrate that in your works? Could be a cool contrast.
