OMG towards the end of summer we kept driving near Oria -- even though our place is at the tip of the Salento and my husband kept saying, "it's a sign, you should reach out and we could ask all you wanted to know on how to fix up a place in Puglia" :) Lovely indeed. We are yet to start our own rehab but have already taken so many of your ideas to heart. Too bad our "neighbors" up north are now gone :( Happy xmas in Sweden!

When I was much younger, I moved multiple times. So many times that I have lost count. I took only what I could fit in my car. Now I am 74 and wish to only stay in one place. I still don't own anything outright but my clothes, not even a car anymore. I am an old soul and remember many lifetimes so I am not impressed by what this universe holds and am not anchored to it anymore. The more we anchor ourselves the more we are controled by what we are anchored to. Fly free and thrive! 😊

The feeling of leaving home for the last time and never returning hurts a lot. In my case a couple of months ago while packing up everything and knowing that I no longer belong to the house made me realize how everything passes so quickly, and that we're just passengers looking for the next challenge. As we say in Italy: Vi auguro il meglio (on your next adventure)!

It is an incredible time globally with the migration of people for such vastly different reasons. My reasons for needing to relocate simply do not compare to someone living in the third world needing to relocate because of political and economic forces. The examples are many and provide each of us with a sense of the strife and hardship of living as a human being amongst many other species and environments. All trying to access resources and a sense of safety and some comfort living with a new sense of place. Your journey also seems different seeming to have a destiny that may be more accommodated by personal choice and desire. My need to relocate is economic and about the need for a quality of life that i can not live here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I have been looking at Puglia and the most southern part of the region to possibly buy a small house that can be renovated into 2 units where I can live peacefully and in a simpler way. Maybe I am caught up on the band wagon of a dream for a life that is a new challenge with the hope of a more fulfilling lifestyle? It seems that many have relocated to Italy, Spain and Portugal with similar dreams. It is good to hear the stories of these people and I thank you for your generosity in sharing your a story with so many from vastly different parts of the world. All the best.
