You can also kill them without breaking the loop by restacking triggers so the reanimate resolves last. This is how the dragonstorm, bladewing combo won, I played a lot of that in historic.

Funny that CGB snarks about opp not having Three Steps Ahead when it would be perfect for that deck to counter AND to pitch stuff from hand to graveyard.

I'm really enjoying the new editing, specially the intro, showing the combo actually working. This is a complicated one to just listen, first time I saw this I had to pause the video and read each card a couple times, but seeing the stack pilling up on the client screen helps a lot.

This is good content and good to know a new combo is out there.... With the prevalence of convoke, control, Show-Off, Analyst and combo, I can't best of 1 anymore. Feels like the matchmaker/ coin flip is all that matters in the current Bo1 meta. Started playing best of 3 again for the first time in years and have enjoyed it so much more because I can actually answer decks like this after game 1.

I love the theme of decks that "cruised to high mythic". The "Latest Untapped Mythic Players" on the Meta tab also has a path to fun decks to try!

First several times I encountered this combo I stopped it even without understanding or realising that was a combo. I just saw the 1/1 Rakdos enters and killed it immediately, without even reading what it does, like, knee jerk reflex haha Bad plays sometimes pay off lol (since then I learned how it works and also lost to it because I just couldn't stop it).

I love this, I was trying to make Threefold Thunderhulk work in a Abuelo's Jeskau shell, but the "Azorius Rakdos Combo" hits harder, haha

Played against this deck last night with discover dinosaurs. I got my one of Elesh Norn, Mother of machines in play and squashed their portal and combo.

I definitely don't think Rest in Peace and Unlicensed Hearse should be staples in standard decks. The Cauldron, on the other hand, is just a versatile, strong card that does 10 things at the same time and I'm surprised it's played so little tbh. If you look at all graveyard combos with the exception of Nissa landfall, they have one thing in common: they target cards in graveyards, be it Abuelo or Reenact the Crime. Cauldron solves that issue, at instant speed and WHILE BEING PROACTIVE, which is the important part that makes a difference. Can't speak for Flanker because I don't own it and I don't know its actual power level, but I'm always been surprised at the complete lack of interaction Boros Convoke has, so it may be a good addition there. That said, I think it's still worth mentioning that Aven Interrupter + Cavern of Souls IS a viable possibility imho: as shown in this videos, these kind of combo decks are usually played with a "tempo player" mentality, and those 2 extra mana matter a lot. Finally, as I said, things are a bit different for Nissa landfall. However, the average number of lands resurrected with an Analyst activation is usually between 2 and 3, which means it still curves out almost perfectly with the Cauldron. And both Virtue and the turtle / Shigeki target, so it's all about being smart and timing the Cauldron correctly.

i played a cheap version of this (plains and islands instead of rare lands, and almost no control stuff in it) and i still got to mythic before vid release. it was under the radar, lucky me i made it before you released the vid, cause i'm a poor bastard who can't buy mtg-cards but i'm grinding the gold-quests.. great vid, like always keep it up

I've been playing this combo on Arena in B01 with a slightly different list. Trying your list, I really miss Founding the Third Path -- it's a "read-ahead" saga whose second chapter mills four cards and whose third chapter lets you cast an instant or sorcery from your graveyard. It's an excellent way to cast Abuelo's Awakening again if it was milled or countered or discarded.

This feels like the strongest combo deck in a while. I’ve just made the deck and played 4 games and won 3/4 of them. Feels very consistent with all of the surveiling and life gain from faithful mending. Super fun deck

You can break the combo simply by choosing not to pick something to copy with metamorph. Then you end the combo with a 9/9 artifact creature

Looks like the end is now main deck able in best of 1. RJU becomes a creature so is target able and then it’ll remove all the other copies. You do need to find a way to deal with the metamorph since that’ll still come back unless you tidebinder rakdos. Nothing a nissa or frillback can’t do. Or kallen is another option. Is it the age of sulti?

First time I played this I never got to abuelos through 30+ cards. You play it and you have abuelo's as soon as it was possible to win twice in a row.

I remember running into this deck on ladder quite a few times. Fortunately, I was running Jeskai control, which has multiple answers - counterspells, instant speed enchantment removal, Kutzil's Flanker - so it went pretty well for me.

When i play this deck, its either combo in bottom 20, or brick city. 24 lands? Shuffler gives you 2 in 13. you've hit full mill and now you need Abjelos? Yeah you wish friend, first ones card #28. Start 2 mill cards? THOSE WILL BE YOUR TOP 25, and its all bricks and no way to remove them from hand. Ever wanna go first? It's against control, and every match against second is Mono red or teched out white black/Dimir/black green with soul lantern AND dino. Oh you started with a great hand? Here's every brick in order to dodge your gazes/archelogists. You got 3 Rakdos in grave? LOL gl finding Hulking anytime soon. You face mono red, heres 2 Abolisher, you face white/blue or atraxa, abolisher is a dream. It's fucking painful.

I would love to see a very competitive deck with Artifacts Simulacrum Syntheseizer.

It's a pity, I don't mind combo decks, but standard takes so long, decks like this start to pop up. Every game is over at turn4, exactly why I didnt like historic

Is it better than the turn 4 mill from reenact? I am not sure. Both decks telegraph pretty easy. If you hold up the removal you have a pretty good chance. I have only been beaten by it once in Bo1 once I have seen it before. I just didint have the third removal for the third time they pulled the combo.

I have played against this deck 5 times and they have never got the combo off before I Farewelled their GY

I think running "The Celestus" would be good for 1) Drawing and discarding combo. 2) Minor life gain against aggro. and 3) The very slim chance you need to put more counters on the returned copy to get out of range of "Play with Fire" or "Cutdown" (extra ramp for the X)

Long Goodbye is your friend against this deck, zap that token as soon as it gets on the board

Oh my god this deck can be so hard to go against 😂😂 My Control deck doesn't have any graveyard hate due to lack of wildcards, so this deck is a tough matchup

Day 08 of respectfully requesting CGB to make a magda the hoardmaster standard deck

Seeing a few KZfaqrs post this deck kills my soul. Funny enough, the deck you used before this last set has helped me flash in removal to exile all the important pieces.

Interesting, but in my testing this is worse than the original version that is all in on the combo. In my testing, for every game the extra control might help you, you will lose more games to not finding the combo as quickly as the original version because you have more spots devoted to control. And, frankly, with many problematic decks running Cavern of Souls, I think this deck overvalues the counterspells. But, I'm grinding out these subpar decks in the lower ranks for fun and testing, so maybe at Mythic the meta is more friendly to this build.

This is so easily countered if you see it coming. Holding removal or counters makes me laugh as I trash this flavor of the week deck into the ground.

Blue Control. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED.... Blue is so OP and they continue to boost it.
