Perhaps so. However while God is the alpha and omega, we have been given minds capable of piecing together the how of the tinker toy set we're in. Why else make the universe make sense in ways beyond 'god wills it'? We have freedom of will, which means there must be a logical explanation that is not god-dependent for there to be real choice else it's just a petulant child telling their parent to sod off. Now? If the universe is governed by rules that do not fluctuate at the whims of vodka. This means we can use how things connect to make the universe better.

Considering how USA doesnt even want to change to the metric system. changing the calendar to have 10000 years added to it would cause a lot of trouble for reprinting of our history and knowledge which costs money which is the arguement against chaning the imperial system into metric in USA so good luck with this.

It would also be expensive to change all of the school systems in the way they teach history and a bunch of other related things. It probably wouldnt cost as much as converting to the metric system for the USA, but the new history calender would have to change for the whole world. where the metric system is literally only absent from USA and USA alone.

As a person who loves science, i really really like this idea; but I think there are major problems that complicate this way of counting years. 1) Everyone is just very very used to it and it would have a great impact around the world I guess. (Good is that it's only a one that needs to be added fortunately.) 2) And this is the biggest one I guess, the fact that a lot of things, churches, buildings, texts etc. have a certain date carved into their walls, or written under the texts, or whatever. Suddenly changing the year count would make it much more difficult to historians, archaeologists and maybe scientist to date certain things. At least that's what I think; if someone think I'm wrong let me know because I would actually be relieved then. Haha

It wouldn't be that difficult for Historians to document the past with the new Holocene calendar. All they'd be doing is adding 10,000 years to the year count. The months and days would remain the same. As far as presenting difficulties for historians and archaeologists is concerned, this difficulty already exists with the Gregorian calendar we currently use. This is because the ancient Greeks and Egyptians for instance, didn't use the Gregorian calendar, they had their own ways of marking time.

I think that's the best part. To look back at all the stages of humanity and see who took part in what, and how that turned out. The fact that things can change so much is pretty cool. All that matters is that we were here and we contributed. Humanity in the year 2100, if humanity still exists, will only be there because we were here in this moment, right now. Think of that. It's amazing how connected we all really are.

Chuck, the bible might not say the earth is 6,000 years old, but that age is reasonably accurate - determined by adding up all of the known ages of descendants of biblical characters (according to the bible), and then cross-referencing with known dates that the bible does reference. Of course, it is still wrong, but to claim the bible does not "say" that seems odd when you can indeed add up the dates like that.

I normally don't comment on videos as it obviously gets a little out of hand, but this time I just had to. I'm overwhelmingly extatic about this proposal. Even the "Common Era" which replaces BC & AD is still based on a system that was created for religious purposes by the Vatican. Human history will always be more important than a 'supposed' man's one life, and that's exactly the reason this new calendar must be implemented. Absolutely wonderful video!!! 😁
@PeterNjeim
@PeterNjeim 7 жыл бұрын
BCE and CE haven't replaced BC and AD. Maybe you think that because you are part of the very little amount of Atheists in the world. No one cares if your mother taught you that God wasn't real, you can continue to cry with your minority friends because 30% of the world (Christians) will not let this idiocy happen. Our ancestors have perfected this calendar for many many years and you are willing to add a digit 1 before those years? That shows how pathetic and lazy Atheists are, you can't even think of your own calendar LOL! Every document I've ever read used BC and AD because they were published by a certain 30% of the world. Also, stop thinking that Atheists are the "new generation" or the people who are always right. 50% of the world is affiliated with an Abrahamic religion and you guys are slowly becoming a smaller and smaller percentage of the human population. Muslims reproduce very fast and you losers taking pills and abortion is just hilarious. Continue to believe the lies you were told (that BC and AD were replaced by BCE and CE) and why are you living? Ask yourself, an Atheist has no place in life, really what is the point of you living? Can't you just commit suicide? Christians want to live a good life in order to enter the kingdom of God, why do you live?
@Triumph263
@Triumph263 7 жыл бұрын
Even if you aren't religious he was an important figure, he has effected all of human history since. Whether or not he was or was not the son of God, the Messiah, doesn't change how much he influenced history. I don't hear any atheists complaining about how basically everything in our solar system is named after Roman gods, or how the names of Greek and Roman gods have made their way into our scientific vocabulary. I also don't hear any Christians complaining about it. If we change the calendar it should be for better reasons than that atheists want to pretend Jesus wasn't a part of history.

Peter Njeim You can respect Jesus & Christians and still think this calendar is a good idea. Honor Jesus by espousing his teachings, not by making all the calendar dates go around his birthday. Also, the reason most of the world uses that calendar is because of European military power from 1500-1900 (or 11500-11900) - the rest of the world ended up using their language, suit fashion, law systems and calendar no matter which religion it was based on.

Yeah this whole temple date thing is just another weird arbitrary date. There is undoubtedly an older undiscovered monument. Not to mention that this temple doesn't represent any change in humanity globally. The only reason its being used is because it's 10,000 years before year ""0."" This has gotta be the first Kurzgesagt video that I didn't like.

***** I'm not saying it specifically states that, just like it doesn't specifically state that the Earth is 6,000 years old. But the bible mentions Satan, and says Satan was cast down into Earth and corrupted it (not the exact word but similar to it) (and this happened before God went in and yeah did his thing) so this suggest that dinosaurs and such probably existed before which supports an ideology that there are years that aren't documented.

Here's a life hack: You can make one of those calendars at home, and you'll only need two things. The first is Gregorian calendar, you can find these at your local post office, or general store. The next is some writing implement, I prefer pen, but you can also use raspberry jam if that is all you have.

Jam. Not the electronic jamming, but fruit(this case, raspberry) boiled in sugar and hermetically closed in jars for sweet and for long-term conservation of fruit. As drawing material, it is more dirtying than writing, but may work after some exercise.
