If you are aligning your foundations to the world grid, make sure you use 2m or 4m foundations. These snap to the top/bottom of the global altitude marks. 1m foundations snap to the middle of the world grid so you will be .5m off from separate foundations

@@PHENIXXCREATES the middle of the 1m foundation will snap to the equivalent altitude of the top of the 2m, to clarify. Re-reading my comment it wasn’t too clear.

You can cover the entire node with the foundation if you want to, I think he knows that too -but it looks much more authentic if you can see the resources under the miner. Thats just me tho.

Barrier is ur goto for about everything u need to force on grids. U can get allmost everything to slide freely too, if using the right pieses. I secretly hope CSS would make a slider toggle for everything, saving us for the work arounds. Good vid keep it up.

The conveyor cage...thank you. If you have a split factory, you can use inclines and have a covered conveyor like the old mines and factories had.

I enclose all my miners, so have no need for aesthetics - I focus on velocity instead, however these are good methods, which will undoubtedly aid some folk 👍🏾

Your miner technique makes the belts line up to the miner, but the miner itself still isn't aligned with the world grid, is it? If the rest of your factory is aligned to the world grid, this will be offset from that and they will never match up together. Am I incorrect in my thinking or am I missing something fundamental?

Just takes a 90 degree turn somewhere to fix it and in theory it should be fine. Theres no real way tonline itnup to the world grid itself and coffee stain has aaid its not in the works to fix

You can also put foundation over the node and the miner on the foundation it will put everything in a grid

@@mistawinta Not up to the first few minutes. He used foundations to align the miner *rotation* with the grid. you can place miners on foundations up to 2m above the node itself to align the miner *height* with the foundations on the world grid as well. So build your world-grid foundations to completely cover the node; then snap your miner on the foundations, then rotate as required.

Seeing a little further in (4:24) he does do snapping the height of the miner to the foundations, but he’s aligned his foundation X/Y position to the miner rather than to the world grid.

Because this is how you get the Belt to line up. The belt doesn't always line up to the world grid and you will get some wonky belts. I chose this method because it allows to line up the belts easier even if its not on the grid with a simple 90 degree turn of the belt somewhere.

Sorry, I just found this video, and seeing you build something more advance than what I ever built on my 250 hours of satisfactory I asume you know this, but just in case: do you know you can just cover the resource node with "World Grid oriented" foundations and then just place the miner on top of it? It woint solve the wonky first conveyor, since the nodes, for some reason are off grid, but you will have a clean world-aligned mining station

I did place it world grid oriented.. I placed the foundations down according to the grid.. there is no way to line some of the nodes up to the world grid perfectly though. If you place the foundation down on the world grid.. then the miner down.. it still lines up to the node not the grid.

Furthermore, place your (2 or 4 meter) foundation first and place the miner on top of them.

In the episode where we made the caterium wing of the factory. I belted coal in from another section to feed it. So the fuel is at the drop off point

thats a really neat trick! but its not part of the world grid after all that. I really hope CSS adjusts the nodes to be world grid aligned. I also really like the trick with the lifts to the miner! really clean.

But.. you can line it up to world grid easier with just a simple 90 degree turn somewhere to get it back into the World grid. In theory anyway.. it should work out fine and this way you won't get the belt to come out wonky from the miner

I guess I’m confused as to why you don’t use 2m foundations hold control and just plaster them over the top of the node. The miner will line up with the grid then. What was solved by doing the whole thing with the road barrier and all that? This game has so many little tricks it’s hard to keep track and know when to use what

It doesn't line up with the grid. Just because you place foundations down on the grid, and you can put a miner on those foundations.. it still snaps to the node.. if that node isn't on the world grid.. the miner won't be either. I've been getting a lot of comments like this but I went back and thoroughly tested 3 or 4 different nodes and some aren't on the world grid and this just does not work the way some claim it does.

aren't you moving off of the world grid when using the miner line up trick? You're snapping foundations to the miner position.

I've always used highway roads to connect everything together instead of driving trucks on the terrain. I see you drive on the terrain instead so I guess its not as important. Was just curious thats all

People doing these builds in spacious area, I'm like... ugh sghould I start new game or somehow move out from current location. Started with most difficult area and it's difficult probably cause all the pure nodes and small space.

Me... carefully making BPs and utilising it and sometimes FK it, we do Spaghetti at least we got things producing. This dude... now... now... now... 20min later mining spot with some flare and mini hut... :/

I used Nudge extensively throughout. But you have tonget the right placement to start hence using the concrete barrier to line up with the Miner

Just hold control, build over the node with blocks and drop your miner. It snaps to the grid. You can always nudge the frames if you want to center it up but I never bother with it. It does the same thing… no need for all the extra BS. Why do people over complicate this game? 27 minutes of wasted time.

Because this looks better rather than having the belt not line up.. its not overcomplicating.. its just making it work and look better
