The Christmas island is decorated beautifully. The Sangria beverage looks delicious. When I was a child, my family visited one of my favorite aunts who lived on a farm. She raised turkeys & I loved to chase them. After running after the turkeys, one of them began to chase me. As I turned around the big Tom turkey spread his wings & pecked me on my waist. I cried & cried, but, after that, I left the turkeys alone. I ate Thanksgiving dinner with a sore waist. That's my most memorable Thanksgiving. Gobble, gobble, Melonie!🦃🦃🦃

Our biggest mishap (that turned out great) was in high school the turkey was forgotten in the trunk of the car and has to be tossed the day before thanksgiving. We couldn’t find another bird that was big enough so we ended up with steak as the thanksgiving main and it was one of the most delicious thanksgivings I remember growing up

Love the throwback, the biggest thing I can remember is one my Mom had to work at the hospital so the turkey was prepped and all I had to do was place it the oven at the correct time and I forgot😢 I put it in 2hrs before she got home and it was 9pm when we got to eat dinner.

The charcuterie cheese wreath is the best idea I could ever imagine. And as mishap I remembered my mother asked me to cook the turkey on a different occasion (we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Greece), but the bird was so big that I had to push it in my oven. Fortunately during the cooking it shrank and finally it was eatable…

This video gave some great tips!! I love that you showed food and beverage ideas. Your charcuterie board was beautiful. One year my grandmother had dinner at her home (which really wasn’t uncommon during the holidays. She enjoyed having her family over and we all loved her cooking). She had everything laid out on the table ready. We prayed and after prayer we made our plates. We were starting to dig in and my husband said “ohhh granny, did you use a new recipe on your cornbread muffins”…she said no and took a taste. She had used salt in place of sugar. At that moment I thought to myself good thing I got a crescent roll.

I love it, Mel! I love the Tapered Candies on the island and will be adding some this year! The funniest Thanksgiving was my husband frying a Turkey for the first time! He had everything set up on the patio under a large oak tree. When the oil was at the right temp he lowered the turkey in the pot creating steam! A large owl was on the oak branch over the patio. The steam went up causing the owl to take off and my husband took off running!! My kids thought the owl was the turkey flying away and began screaming!! It was the best turkey ever but the kids would not eat any! 😂

Great tips! That Charcuterie platter looks delicious. The one Thanksgiving mishap I remember in particular is when me & my late husband were trying to prep (brine) our first turkey together, and we almost dropped it on the kitchen floor. It turned out great though--not dry at all.

My mother knew I don’t touch meat and I had gotten a free turkey from work. Took it to my mother’s to cook and she told me she would give me instructions on how to prepare it. All of my kids were in on it because they knew I didn’t touch meat. They said the look on my face when my mother told me I was the one that was going to do it I guess was unforgettable . My mom has since passed and all my kids are married with their own families, but they do remind me of that day. And no I refused to touch that thing ! Lol

Blessing Melonie, good morning! I love the way you decorated the island. Simple but with a elegant flair. Love it!!! The drink mixture was pretty I will be making something similar but w/o alcohol. Anyhoo great tips and those champagne flutes are to live for. One year when we lived in GA I hosted Thanksgiving and since it was a hot November my hubby’s family flip the script and did a seafood crab boil. This Texas girl just went with the flow…😂😂😂 🙏🏾🤎🦃🌹☕️🤎🙏🏾

My biggest mishap was one Thanksgiving, my assigned dish was green beans. They were cooked and seasoned to perfection. As I left my apartment arms full I sat the pot on my trunk, not realizing there was a thin layer of ice.. and as I got everything else into my back seat, I watched in horror as the pot slowly slid off of the trunk onto the ground🤦🏽‍♀️. Thankfully I was early heading to my parents and the stores were still open. Because I had to make a whole new pot!

Your videos are so enjoyable to watch. I had an issue with my cranberry sauce. I did not have enough sugar so I sent my husband out to purchase coffee and ask for extra sugar. My sauce turned out better and I used half the amount of sugar.

Love the charcuterie board 😋 our funniest moment was when me and my brother made an attempt to make a batch of brownies that required rum in the receipt and of course my behind went and purchased 151 rum not knowing that’s not a baking type of rum!! The oven blew out and thankful didn’t explode but the door to the oven busted wide open 😩

As always, a gorgeous festive display! One year my husband was to deep fry the turkey, but could not figure out why the turkey fryer would not start. I thought gosh, it's too late to put a turkey in the oven. After some time passed, he realized propane tank was empty!

Beautiful as always! One year the night before thanksgiving our oven broke. Thankfully my grandparents lived around the block, we spent the night and morning running back and forth baking all the food, pies and the turkey!

Wowwwww! That reminds me of the year it “snowed” in Florida when I was a kid…I can’t remember if it was Thanksgiving or Christmas…but we had “rolling black outs”…my mom was trying to bake the turkey each time our power was back on…it was a HOT MESS🤣😂

Everything is so beautiful you always inspire me to change things up. I don't have a budget for new things but I'm going to work miracles with what I have. The mishap I want to share is the homemade stuffing I attempted to make one year it didn't turn out so good very mushy and I forgot to add the spices. I can't believe I did that 🤣 It was awful.

I will never forget this one. I was hosting thanksgiving for the first time for my husbands family. I made some pumpkin pies and used the frozen pie crusts (2 pack). The first one was delicious, however, when we cut into the second pie, I had forgotten to remove the protective sheets between frozen pie crusts. Needless to say it was a little difficult to cut.

Love how you decorate for Christmas. Did your daughter take her tree kit to college with her? My Thanksgiving mishap really wasn't a mishap. But sort of a Home alone moment. My granddaughter had never been away from me for Thanksgiving but one year her Mom decided they were staying home for Thanksgiving. We always visit family out of state. My granddaughter was determined not to be left behind and my brother got her a last minute ticket Thanksgiving day to fly down alone for the first time🥰

I always use the same recipe for my sweet potato pie, but for some reason, one year i had a mishap with the pie filling, which wouldn't get done underneath the top was still like liquid.

I don't have Thanksgiving memory because we don't celebrate. But I do remember as a child I was completely in panic mode because people were going to eat Turkey that day. I didn't speak English. Dutch and TURKISH. See my confusion? I thought they were going to eat Turkey, the Country where my family lives 🤦‍♀🤣🤣🤣

It may only be the biggest mishap to me because I’m easily grossed out, but it raised more than one set of eyebrows and was laughed about for years. My brother-in-law’s brother was tasked to bring the turkey. We were all taken aback when my brother-in-law started carving the turkey and proceeded to pull out the paper package of all the giblets from the inside of this clearly unwashed turkey! 🤢🤮😩 Wash your turkeys thoroughly... inside and out... and remove all organs wrapped in paper before cooking!!! I really enjoyed the ham that year! 😉🤦🏻‍♀️😂
