As someone who accepted this reality a few weeks ago and has kind of been hoping for it (let's the Love era begin, and get us out of cap hell right as the cap really starts to balloon next year, this year will be rough but next year we have a lot of free space even with the restructuring we've done with our existing contracts), it still really stung to see it become a reality... I'm excited for our next era, I just hope that if Love is our 3rd straight generational QB in a row that we do a better job setting him up for championship runs...we kept focusing on future cap concerns and basically didn't have a complete team after 2010 as a result (2011's D was porous, and a big chunk of that can be blamed on losing Nick Collins but it doesn't explain all of it or the fact that we didn't really seek a replacement until 2014 when we drafted HHCD, 2014 was probably the most complete team but that damn calf injury and bostick's idiocy, 2019 our D was scary against the pass but not against the run, 2020 the D was competent but not reliable (hence why Pettine got canned), 2021 our offense devolved into "throw it up to Adams" and so our D being one of the best didn't matter, also special teams blocking was oof - I think if Rodgers didn't have tunnel vision for Adams we win that game handily but special teams blocking resulted in a blocked FG that denied us points and a game tying blocked punt (10 point swing from special teams alone)). I could see 2023 going one of 2 ways: 1) we address Safety and TE in the draft and we have a scary team that probably doesn't finish off a lot of games and maybe we sneak into the playoffs, or 2) our young WRs have a rough second year and it doesn't really matter how we handled TE or Safety and its just a year for Love to grow and learn. Either way I think we could challenge in 2024 (for 2025 and beyond contract management is key along with the development of Love). Love is going to cost us a lot pretty soon here BUT he's not going to cost as much as Rodgers and we aren't going to have to worry about a possible retirement accelerating the cap hit, we're going to have space to make moves possibly as soon as next season and I'm excited to see how we handle that.

I wish nothing but the best for 12. I'll die on any hill defending him against any argument and hope he can get another ring in New York. As upsetting as this is I feel lucky he stuck around as long as he did with the way the organization has treated him and former teammates he's had. I think the Packers just reached a point of no more patience waiting for a decision which I don't necessarily blame them for. Sometimes it's just time to move on. The same thing happened with Manning, sometimes it's just time to move on. As sad as this makes me, I have nothing but optimism and support for JLove as he takes over. I am beyond excited to see what he can do, I feel the same way I felt when Rodgers took over sad but incredibly optimistic. Nothing but love for 12 as he departs, and I really hope there are no sour tastes in anyone's mouths once it's all said and done. I got to witness a top 5 quarterback of all time play for my whole childhood and I can't express the pure joy I get watching 12 play the game.

As someone who grew up a big Packers fan and is also a huge fan of Rodgers I think this is ultimately the best outcome for both sides. The Packers FO the last few years failed to commit to win now and clearly wanted to focus on there future post Rodgers when they drafted Jordan Love in 2020. I think the Packers FO should have committed sooner to win now and went all out on big free agents / trades in 2019-2020 even earlier as Packers definitely could have won a SB or 2. But they made the choice to get the pieces to be good enough and give themselves a chance while also doing what was needed to focus on building for future of post Rodgers. Playing both sides cost them the past few years but now with Rodgers going to Jets they finally can put all that in motion of building around Jordan love who in the little we've seen of him has looked great and now with a young breakout superstar wr in Christian Watson the future is still very bright and good for Packers who have a lot of young talent now. As for Rodgers it's clear that he definitely wants to have a shot at winning another SB and the Jets are in a great position to compete with a great defense and also weapons on offense plus the Jets are willing to do what Packers wouldn't which is to go all in on competing now by bringing in allen lazard , and then looking at bringing in Cobb then big names such As O'Dell Beckham Jr. Plus Nathaniel hackett being there it's a great situation. The Jets showed last year they were literally a QB away from being a playoff team. Adding Rodgers plus all the other talent mentioned is probably gonna put them as favorites in a tough AFC east over Dolphins and Bills. I think it's unfortunate seeing Rodgers one of the best all time and has a ton of records only he holds among the 4 mvps, SB, and SB mvp and all of the other crazy stats he got with Rodgers but as much as I will miss him I think this was the best choice for both sides.

I always got the sense that Aaron wasn't treated well by Green Bay (draft picks), or the NFL because he's not politically correct. I actually think he's the best modern quarterback; and I'm an old Cowboys fan (grew up watching Staubach) Today's league is a joke; however, I hope Aaron gets talent around him and show off his HOF self to these jokers of the NFL 😎🎸☮️💕

I wish ARod only the best. I feel that GB did not do what they should have done to support him. Especially the last few years, he did not have receivers to catch the ball. He carried the team for way too long, and I truly hope he can take the Jets to the big game, because GB sure won't be there this year! I am still and always will be a Packer fan, that will never change, but I"ll be following the Jets next season!

They catered to his every whim. They paid him a shitload of money in an extension, at his request, so what did he think would happen? That the salary cap doesn't exist? It's hard to build anything around a QB that takes up a third of their cap hit.

@@shawnsanders9450 When they drafted the QB in first round, it didn’t look like Rodgers was in his prime anymore. Frankly I don’t think he would have had those two MVP seasons had he not feel slighted by that pick. Packers should have traded him last year or the year before.

The way Green Bay has handled Aaron Rodgers has been awful over the past years and I think they wasted some of his talent with their conservative approach. Think what could have happened if instead of drafting Love they would have drafted Jefferson. I am just glad for the past years, he was a pleasure watching in and cheering for him. I wish him the best of luck in New York, he deserves another ring. A shame we were not able to support him enough in Green Bay.

Tom, I feel you. I'm really sad right now. Maybe there aren't many like me but I didn't want him to leave. I've been a fan of the Packers since Favre won the SB, and the Packers have not drafted or signed well for a long time. I think they got complacent having a HoF QB back to back. 1 SB for each, when it should have been several.

This wait the last week is all about the Packers trying to get more in a trade. If I'm the Jets, right now I wouldn't give more than a 2nd-round pick this season and a conditional pick next season. The Packers have no leverage whatsoever. They drafted Love and now they're still negotiating a week after he decided. And now Rodgers destroyed what little leverage they have left. He doesn't want to see the team he's going to gutted of draft picks, and he doesn't want to help the front office who decided to move on from him.

As a non-Packers fan, this is the best case scenario for the Packers I think. He wasn't going to win them another SB anyway, so now you get to move on to the next phase with at least an extra first round pick

You sir now know how the Seahawks fans felt when they traded Rus to the Broncos. Will it turn out the same way for your Packers as it did for the Seahawks or will you be like how everyone thought it would have been for them? Do the Jets have better weapons? Do they have a better Defense? What about Coaching? Will New Jersey find his pants?
