“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.
Don’t fret because of evildoers;
don’t envy the wicked.”
Proverbs 24: 16-19 NLT

Everyone's had this moment😊Tip:Use a brighter color of ballast to simulate a real track repair section.

A high five to the track crew on the good job. After all they do need something to do. I know you run alot of Norfolk Southern, the last thing they need is another derailment.

Great video Jimmy, that feature in your software to join the sections is great. I sure this will help a lot of your viewers.

This S curve always seemed a bit unrealistic and out of place on an otherwise awesome layout. Very pleased to see it corrected in an educational way. Well done! 👏

I use unitrack on my layout and learned very quick the art of modifying a piece of track to avoid small sections. In my yards I use flex track to avoid a lot of joints. As always a very informative video. Thanks

Thanks Jimmy, I didn’t realize how easy it was to remove ballast with water when you need to remove some tracks

That just doesn't look way better but it also works way better and looks more prototypical. Real railroads try to make their tracks as straight as possible but of course in steeper terrain, that have no choice but to make their tracks flow with the land they build upon. Enjoy having less derails in this one section of your layout! - Jason

Another great video, Jimmy. Personally, I have a cross over near a turn that has been very problematic for me. So my quick fix is to avoid that crossover entirely. Now that you’ve showed me this video I might just move the crossover down the track a little bit further, and allow the trains to straighten out before they reach it.

Mike Fifer did a great video on how he made custom "flex" pieces of Kato Unitrack (by removing a small segment with a saw to make custom curves). It might be on his N scale how to channel. Gives you a lot more flexibility than being stuck with the limited number of standard pieces.

I have a similar S bend in my layout.... I think the fix will require FLEX track and a good dose of patience.... Thanks for the motivation to get back in and fix chronic issues with an initial sub-optimal design.

Nice fix! I have been wondering if that little s-curve coming out of your bridge was a problem from the time you first revealed the layout. I was assuming it must not be a big deal since you hadn't addressed it. I guess I was wrong ... :-) Glad to see it fixed, and it looks a LOT better now! Much more proto-typical and also far more functional!

Thank you for this video. It's important to not be afraid to fix a problem on the layout even if things get messy in the fixing. I am working on a problem area on my small layout currently that has bothered me for a year. I had to undo ballast and landscaping, but I believe the end results are worth it. To continual improvement! Thanks again.

Big improvement, Jimmy! It looks and works so much better now. Like you, I use Railmodeler for Mac. One of the great things about Kato Unitrack is that is relatively easy to make such changes, compared to other types of track, such as flex track. ...Roy

Jimmy i had a similar problem. When i originally layed my track i only had 4 axle engines. No problems. Or so i thought i finally started getting 6 axle engines and of course none of them could make the turns. So like you, ripped it up and relayed a bit straighter. All fixed. 😢😂😊

I gotta say I'm damned impressed that Unitrack has those short filler pieces you needed; and I'm even more impressed that your track planning software could identify the parts you needed to fix the issue.
