The more my library grows the more I realize, it’s not the books you own.. it’s the books you read that matter. I have dozens of books I have yet to read yet I still am constantly looking for more lol.

You have a Companion Bible! It seems to me that there aren't many people out there who have even heard of it.

Thank you for making this video, it was very interesting to see such a large but specialised collection. Would you be able to tell me the average amount of time you spend reading a day, and if you keep personal notes?
@jrj2566 жыл бұрын
Monastic Stew - Thanks for asking! Before we had kids I read 50 to 100 pages per day. Now, having three boys my reading is down to 200-250 pages per week. But with consistency, a lot of material can still be covered. Sometimes I keep notes. They're usually just a running outline of main points and subpoints in the page margins. Knowing a book's or chapter's structure is really helpful for understanding its argument.

I read everything on kindle and online now because of my arthritis even though I have a physical library of over 3,000 books, which means I had to buy digital copies of books I already own.

I'll venture a guess that you have not read a fraction of those books cover-to-cover, making the bulk of the "collection" little more than a "reference" library.

If you're referring to the Loeb Classical Library, it's by a number of various authors and translators.

Does your beard grow every time you're rude? That isn't really what many of these books are for. You don't typically pick up a dictionary and read it cover to cover. As your handle of a language increases, the words you know grow. Many of these books are reference books. Many are teaching aids.
