Selena playing with her hair when she tells Becca the librarian hanging out with books is “saah” is such an important detail. As a woman who grew up in LA and was part of this culture in the 90s (lol), we def played with our hair when we talked. 🤣🤣

"This one is called The Giver" "Damn.....what's that about?" Had me laughing out loud. As someone from LA, and who knows chicks like this, they nailed it.

My husband heard them talking and tells me “what are you watching, they sound like the girls from your hometown” 😂🤣.

I appreciate them putting the spotlight on how close the community of Pico Rivera is because you can clearly see how they are very welcoming and real with everyone. Growing up in Pico Rivera I wouldn't want to have grown up anywhere else. We have deep rooted values of how to care about eachother, support eachother, work hard for what you want to achieve in life and are very resilient. There is so much pride and homage in this community where we always have eachothers back. This style is the chicano style which is all over but we are a mixed community as well. We are very accepting of everyone. We don't all dress or talk like this, no offense intended. But we are all very respectful and we do have a sense of humor and are very laid back and live life to the fullest enjoying the most important moments!

Growing up in LA back in the 80s, this was pretty accurate of the girls I hung out with. We did the whole playing with the hair and hand gestures while talking. I was waiting for one of them to say, "for reals" or "I know uh". Good to see Melissa doing more.

There really are Cholas and 'white settlers' there. They nailed it. And they threw Pico Rivera a bone with that park backdrop. That's not even close to any park there.
