It's Ellen's old friend Gladys! She called in to catch up with her friend about all the things that have been going on in her life... like the fact that she moved! A call from Gladys is always one of Ellen's favorite things.

I miss Gladys' calls! If she went to be with Jesus, then Ellen you need to find another person to call. These calls are the real deal. I enjoy these calls more than celebrity interviews etc.

I thought Gladys Hardy was a character made up for a radio skit by "The Dudley & Bob Show" on KLBJ-FM an Austin Texas radio station. Were the radio station would act like this funny old lady calls em to talk about randomness.If so, I think Ellen initially probably didn't know, but now knows but keeps playing along with it cuz its very funny. Real or fake, makes me laugh everytime!

I thought Gladys was also fake, until I watched this. I live in Austin and her talking about Bastrop and Kingsport (down toward the coast) makes it honestly seem more real. So either it's real, or whomever on her staff is portraying Gladys is from Texas.

Somebody commented once that this isn’t a real person and kinda sounds like Robin Williams I have to check the years Gladys was on the air but I could see Ellen doing something like that. I mean we never even see a picture of her.
