In recent years, Microsoft's focus has been on building a very capable yet flexible 'Platform for PPM' where the emphasis is on using:
- Microsoft Project to manage the work
- Microsoft Teams for collaboration and
- The Power Platform for PPM and reporting
This platform supports a broad range of disciplines, from tasks to project management, program and portfolio management, resource management, strategy and more. This approach allows teams to work the way the want and manage the tasks in tools that make sense to them, like Project Online, Project for the web, Planner, Azure DevOps and Jira.
Of course, most organizations want to do more than just manage the tasks and collaborate as a team; and that’s where the Power Platform completes the picture and provides the additional advanced PPM capabilities and reporting.
Since Project for the web is natively integrated into Office 365 and the Power Platform, there are some very good options to add more advanced PPM capabilities around the projects.
At Sensei, we’ve worked with hundreds of organizations, both commercial and government, to implement PPM. In the process, we have developed a turn-key Power Platform solution, called Sensei IQ, essentially a template that help our clients get started in a matter of a few days. Organizations can certainly take on building much of this functionality themselves in-house, but that can take many months or even years.
Sensei IQ is a proven, connected managed solution, and a Microsoft Preferred Solution, which means it’s maintained and updated by Sensei.

Microsoft doesn’t seem to have this natively. But with all these projects I want to be able to see all tasks assigned to me on one view ingested from all projects. Do you have a solution to this?

Yes, we do! 🙂 The "My Work" companion app shows all work assigned to me across all projects from Project Online, Project for the web, Planner, Azure DevOps and Jira. Check it out here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f52CnNBkybeZfac.html.

We do a lot of our project planning by percentages: we expect a PM will be needed for 25% of the time thru the duration of the project; a Developer will be expected to spend 10% of their time on a given task; etc. Does Project on the Web handle this kind of planning? Or, can the planning be done in Project Desktop, then imported (and updated) to Project on the Web?

Short answer is that Project for the web doesn't yet offer planning by percentage. However, at Sensei we don't think that's a big deal because most organizations need to plan work across multiple work management tools, anyways, so we've separate it out into a separate module. If I have many large projects, should each project be a Team, or keep it as 1 Team each project a channel? I am confused if a project should be a Team or Channel

James, Microsoft Teams is organized around a team of people working together. So, if your projects are all within one department or you already have a team that represents the group of people, then you could easily have multiple projects under a single team. That's what we do most of the time when organizing projects into 'Programs' and 'Portfolios' that are at the Team level.
