@@MrMessiah44 Thank you for your honesty. Life is complicated due to people's personalities. Poland has a self interest big time to help Ukraine because Poland is next "in line" to be attacked by russia, so is Moldova! Personally, I HATE bullies and russia is a HUGE one. I generally have the inclination to fight for the victim. This is, in part, where I stand on this war. Ukraine needs to be helped in any way we can. As for this topic of corruption in Ukraine, well, Canada also has corruption so do all other countries. No one is better than the other. @@magdasienkiewicz8546 I don't know too too much about this but generally speaking the M109 is a really old weapon being an update of an update of an update that started service in the 1960s as apposed to the Krab which started in 2012, so it wouldn't surprise me that the US's artillery isn't as good, frankly we don't need it, we have so many other things we can use at this point that things like conventional artillery is generally less important and so we don't feel the need to waste money updating it, but for countries without our stupidly endless defense budget, where drones and trillion dollar aircraft aren't an option having vehicles like the Krab be top of the line becomes significantly more important.

Slava Ukraine. Slava Poland. The Russian atrocities in Poland in WWII and afterwards are well-known. I am so proud of my eastern European brothers and sisters. I grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio, area and all my neighbors were Czech, Polish, Latvian, Romanian, Estonian and on and on from that part of the world. They were good neighbors always quick to invite you in for a delicious fresh knish. Happy and good-hearted people who somehow left their wartime experiences behind when they moved to their new country. I worked in many machine shops and these people were excellent tool and die men. They could get you hair-breadth precision which in those days was done by hand, not by CNC machines. That doesn't mean they forgot their wartime experiences. It means they had a new purpose in life. To live as free men and women pursuing their hopes and dreams. And when it comes to America these folks of eastern European descent are generally the most patriotic I have ever met. They realize that death may be a consequence when fighting for your freedom and they stoically accept that.

@@spol1622 Poland has some sort of dualism in equipment. We have limited amounts of modern weapons (beril, KRAB, Rosomak APC and IFV, F-16s, Leopard 2 and Abrams MBT'S) and even unique excellent weapon seen only here Piorun MANPADS that US wants for their army (negotiations are still on but they seem pretty decided). However at the same time Poland uses some older equipment, mostly in reserve units but also in large extent in the regular armed forces. The reason is that noone really invested in full rearmament here but we needed something for Iraq and Afghanistan so units sent there and some others were issued a brand new equipment while large portion of the army still remains in the cold war.

Here is the info on the Krab Howitzer from Wikipedia: The AHS Krab (Polish for crab) is a 155 mm NATO-compatible self-propelled tracked gun-howitzer designed in Poland by Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), by combining the South Korean K9 Thunder chassis with a British BAE Systems AS-90M Braveheart turret with French Nexter Systems 52-calibre long gun and Polish WB Electronics' "Topaz" artillery fire control system. The 2011 version used a Nexter Systems barrel and UPG chassis. The 2016 production batch utilized the Hanwha Defense K9 chassis with KMW+Nexter Defense Systems long gun, Rheinmetall barrel and STX Engine-MTU Friedrichshafen engine. As of 2016 full-rate production of 120 Krabs for Polish Army has started with deliveries to be completed by 2024. As of 2019, Huta Stalowa Wola started using barrels of their own manufacture in successive production batches.

The big point of this system is it drives in, stops, fires, leaves., That means no counter battery can touch is. As well, the machine knows the inclination of the vehicle, the exact location of the vehicle, and thus you just punch in the coordinates of your target. That is likely done before they stop, tell the computer to go, then seconds later, bang. On target within 50 meters. If they have a spotter, adjust, second shot right on target. And that's with dumb shells. Add a smart shell to that, and it's done in one.
