I have a battery airbrush with a smaller (2ml) paint cup which is, as you say a great thing if you don't have much to paint. Getting the compressor and everything else out for a 5 minute job seems like a waste of energy. This is a good looking kit and the idea of a removeable battery and a spare is great selling point. Small hint with vallejo air, even though they come pre thinned some are thicker and need further thinning. The clogging of the brush could be an indication of the need of further thinning.

Liking the size of the compressor…very portable! Quite impressed and have been looking at one for a while, so this vid was perfectly timed. Did you find the hose took any pulsing out of the airflow while using it? Is there any pulsing in the airflow without the hose?
@ModelMinutes

The pulsing is minimal, to the point where I can't say I noticed it too much. The hose acts as a little storage tank really which helps

Hi Mr Minutes. What do you wash your stories in? I've just been using not water n a touch of fairy liqu and a new toothbrush. I've just built a couple of those new airfix starter sets but the paint acted as if it was on a waxy surface, you'd paint it but then it balled up if you know what I mean. The paint is in good condition so I don't think it's that and I'm now wondering if it's now I'm washing the series Merry Xmas buddy
@ModelMinutes

Washing sprues in warm soapy water and adding a dash of vinegar can help. If the plastic is clean and paint is still not sticking, try applying a spray can primer base which then acts as a “key” for the next layer

How does this compare to the "fishtank" air compressor type kits similar to the one you reviewed quite some time ago? Which would be better for a beginner? For the price of the item you linked to, it is possible to buy "proper" if cheap compressor.
@ModelMinutes
@ModelMinutes Жыл бұрын
this is definitely a superior system to the airbrush and compressor i got for £60 a few years back, but it won't replace a "proper" compressor with variable psi and storage tank in my opinion. It's still a good product and I will be using it in different projects

Hi, just a question. I've recently bought a portable air paint brush. Different model to this. I've noticed that when I turn my model on, it already has air flowing out of nozzel before I press the spray handle. I'm pretty sure this shouldnt be happening. Would there be a way to stop this?
@ModelMinutes

I have never used an airbrush and have been wanting to get one for a long time now, would this be a good one to start with? Also, for cleaning it, do I need to get airbrush cleaner?
@ModelMinutes
@ModelMinutes Жыл бұрын
This would be an acceptable start to airbrushing to learn the basics - though a better system with a storage tank, variable psi and moisture trap would (although more expensive) still be something to look into. Airbrush cleaner can be helpful but water and thinners can be used to clean an airbrush

What size needle(s) did you use? and what is bubble cleaning? Agreed doesn't seem too loud. Thanks

this only comes with 0.3mm needle/nozzle. Bubble cleaning is where you put your thumb over the end of the nozzle and force air back into the cup which creates bubbles and removes paint from the nozzle

@bk109
@bk109 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, these portable compressor/airbrush combos have been out for awhile and there are plenty of guides (and available adapters) on how to attach "proper" airbrushes. I personally would recommend going with a quick-release pressure-reducing adapter (like 4 euros with shipping on AliExpress wih a couple of spare 1/8inch adapters for extra brushes), since it allows to fine-tune the output of the compressor. Also, I'd suggest looking around a bit more on Ali or Ebay, since the prices for these buggers has cratered - 20 quid for a "single-action" (that becomes double-action with the addition of a 1euro valve), 30-40 for a similar unit to MM's (though including a 5ml metal cup and extra needles and nozzles). Edit: In fact, some stores have started selling the simpler "single-action" (that's a single valve away from becoming a double) this holiday season - I saw people mention finding it in Aldi UK (for 20 quid) and I'm preeeeeeeeetty sure I saw them somewhere over here in Ireland ;)

These sort of airbrush with a mini compressor are all the same. They are OK to start off in airbrushing. But ultimately they are not worth the money. Currently selling for just under $80 from your link. For a little more money, you could get a decent proper compressor and a far better airbrush. I tried something similar, and it wasn't very good. The compressor part lets it down. A quick search on Amazon reveals a few decent airbrush & compressor kits. Some of which are a similar price with a proper compressor included.
