The first solution worked for my iPhone 12 Pro. Thank you very much! I had intentionally washed my phone and then that happened, I reset it but the "Setup Face ID" button greyed out...Apple support says if that fails then you should take it to a technician. I decided to heat it up just a little bit and blowed it using my fan, after about 20 minutes I came to this video, did the first trick, my phone restarted and VUALA, Face ID is back to life.

Tomei chuva andando de moto com meu depois de 12horas Face ID parou, acho que ficou úmido câmera, liguei flash de outro celular deixei ativo direcionado na câmera frontal do iPhone depois reiniciei o telefone voltou a funcionar

Same thing with me nothing worked I had to send it to the Maintenace and replaced the truedeapth camera they said water got in so be careful all it’s not IPX68 at all damn iPhone

@@Memo-mw6io كنت بقول دخله موية يعني ماهو مقاوم للمويه كذابين وللأسف لازم تغير طقم الكاميرات الأمامية وفي بعض الأماكن جوال جديد بأختصار انا تعاملت وكان الجوال مافيه تعرف على الوجه 😭

@@Memo-mw6io كان وقتها ٣٤٠٠ للماكس يعني ٧٠٪؜ من سعر الجديد وصراحة قالوا لي بنبدل لك الجهاز لان سعرها عالي بس كلفوني التصليح عشان الخطأ مني على رايهم فانا زي ماقلت لك ماصلحته وخليته زي ماهو

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but most Face ID problems are always a hardware issue not a software bug, don’t reset ur iPhone because I guarantee u 99.99% of the times it won’t even fix anything. U just have to get a new phone or look for an expert technician that can repair  Face ID ❤

Keyword here is 'most', not all, and some hardware problems can be fixed using different tricks, maybe the hardware contacted moisture, if that's the case then it should just be left alone to dry. I left mine for sometime and then hard reset it and it worked!!!
