As a former attorney, I totally get the sister who left it to go into the monastery. Been there, done that says it all. The things of the world which I formerly put a lot of effort trying to obtain no longer mean anything to me. Being quiet, studying and praying are more important now. Honestly, I envy those men and women who opted for a life in the monastery rather than in the world. They chose the best part.

@St Cecilia's Hermitage KZfaq I had a look at your channel.I appreciate your sincerity and devotion,so I subscribed 😊.I don't know of any convents that would take on a postulant aged 60 but you do seem to be blooming very well where you are planted.Perhaps if you contacted the convent in this documentary (website in the description box),you could develop a mutually fruitful correspondence with these sisters? Thank you for your videos, you certainly have a talent for relating the concepts of the Gospel with enthusiasm and loving kindness.

What peace and inner joy these nuns exude. I live close to Assisi and love going to the quiet cloister of San Damiano where Santa Chiara was. It is incredible to realize how one person can change so many souls all over the world by reflecting God's love. Blessings from Assisi.🙏🙏

In my 30's I had great privilege to live in a rooming shared house run and owned by nuns. I am not Catholic, but I loved their lifestyle that I too pray the Hours and Rosary. I studied computer science when I was young and so I like the quiet prayer life. Thank you for sharing.🌟🌸🌟

Watching the sisters care for Sister Natalie reminds me of caring now for my grandmother with dementia. While my grandmother is not yet confined to her bed, my mom, brother, father and I care for her full time. We promised her we would never put her in a nursing home. She is the woman that instilled my faith in me and even at almost 92 and advancing dementia, she never fails to say her Rosaries. It is so discouraging to see so many that can care for their loved ones to put them in nursing homes because its inconvenient. Is it hard to be a caretaker? Heck yes it is. Little sleep, loads of laundry, etc. But its worth every moment.

More people need to see an example of this kind of caring and love. Don't hide your light under a bushel basket-let it shine for all the world to see. Talk about being a caregiver. Tell people about it. Blog about it. If people don't see examples of it, they don't know it is possible.

People don't realize that nuns started a lot of health services and education we have today. Hundreds of years ago they started offering free education to children who couldn't afford it and they first started hospitals. Yes, some of their procedures would seem awful today but that was when medicine and healthcare first began and people were still learning.

The beauty in the lives of these sisters shows in their smiles, their demeanour, the way they speak, the way they live, the way they think and that inner joy for life that is just so pure and beautiful. I’ve watched many documentaries about different convents and the sisters everywhere have this inner glow and peace that just resonates. It’s that calm that Christ has gifted them . I hope to get there too. ❤️🥰✝️

Erm, all due respect, being a nun/monk is not the only way to serve. I’m Protestant (Quaker), have often thought about being a nun, but: 1) I’m not willing to convert, and 2) my sight is failing. So, i use the crochet skills i learned in childhood (when my sight was much better, and i was taught by my maternal grandmother) to make scarves, shawls and lap afghans for charity. A F/friend (she is also Quaker, but is a friend ‘outside’ the faith), comes about once/month to help me bring my donations to a Meetinghouse.

Hello sisters, that was lovely, it opened my eyes to life in an enclosed community. I must remember to pray for you all. I have recently been given a Rosary booklet to pray for Vocations to the Prieshood and Religouse Life. I married into a Catholic Family as a non attendee protestant. After attending Mass with my new family for a number of years and after the birth of two children, I was received into the Catholic faith in 1977. I can truly say my faith helped me a lot with my husbands illness and passing in 2017. Also through the present Covid Pandemic. Last May I was unexpectedly gifted with a six and half year old little Terrier, he is such good company and gets me out walking twice a day. I'll be celebrating my 75th birthday next month but feel years younger. God Bless you all. From UK.

Lovely and charming. I loved the story about the little girl calling the sister , “Sister Act” . I wondered if that dear Sister knew that there was a movie called “Sister Act” made years ago starring Whoopie Goldberg as a “Nun” in hiding in a nunnery? It was a darling & fun movie that most people on the ‘outside’ have watched but perhaps that sweet sister had never heard of it? Very sweet . Thank you .

It is wonderful to me to see Nuns out and about. I always think how admirable their dedication and conviction is to God. I've found them to always be happy to engage and have a good sense of humor. I was in Walmart and let an expletive slip out from frustration over not finding my product. I was looking on a low shelf and saw a swish of black go past me. I knew it had to be a nun even though Ive only seen a couple out in public on rare occasions. Seconds later a nun came around the corner. Lol! I laughed and told her what had just happened and then she passed by. I looked to the ceiling and with hands in prayer said, ok I get it. We both laughed so hard. Precious and perfect timing. -)

I grew up in Australia .my parents emigrated from Croatia Australia in 1959 ..I was educated in Catholics school by nuns..loved them all! Needless to say I wanted to be a nun, however, that was not to be..I opted to return to Croatia ( the then Yugoslavia) in 1976..had a large family..six of each gender..lived well ( still do) BUT I often ask myself did I make the right choice?..you see, just because you find yourself in a so-called life-story does NOT mean you made the RIGHT choice..it's the result of your FREE-WILL which, in the majority of cases, is mostly a choice you make in a moment of emotional frenzy..so, it is usually NOT the right, nor wise, choice..well there it is..perhaps my first inkling would have been a much wiser choice.thank you for this exceptional video..blessings!

This was very interesting. For a while I used to think that a monastery was a little bit like a prison only with nice people. Wait… I had to edit this. The one gal already had two sons and a relationship. I thought they couldn’t ever be married. At least that’s what I learned from The Sound of Music, Maria got married eventually because she didn’t do all her vows. Or something like that. So sorry I am not Catholic.🧐

It is good to have completed training in order to be free for the process of discernment. To be able to enter and to have experienced life, not to have to stay for fear of not having a basis for an independent life. To be able to stay and leave during the probationary period in freedom and out of love alone. Good spiritual guidance during this time of waiting and learning can help you not to lose sight of Christ. Visits can help to learn about different communities, or to ramain in contact with the one...

When I was 12 I seen a nun and wanted so badly to be a nun too because I loved Jesus and He was the only one whom ever loved me. (Nevermind that I wasn't even a Catholic). Now as an adult, I sometimes still want to be a nun, but I'm still not Catholic and I've sinned too much in my life to ever hope to be permitted... and I think I'm too old now to start the process 😫😭

God forgives us for our sins. That shouldn’t be a roadblock for you.

Jesus Christ shed his blood on the Cross for our redemption and for the forgiveness of sins, Ephesians 1 7kjv. That includes ALL sins past, present and future. All you need to do is believe that Jesus Christ died for all sins, was buried and rose again the 3rd day and you will be saved, 1 Corinthians 15 1-4kjv. Read your Bible and learn to rightly divide the Word of Truth, 2 Timothy 2 15kjv.

Do you become a nun the same way that Mother Angelica became a nun? And do you get a new name?

Yes they get a new name.

In some communities, people select a new name for themselves. In other communities, one is given to them. In other communities, they go by their given name.

Its sad that some parents have such objections to a Religious Vocation, some even cutting ties with a child.
