Probably because the kids see their character as the main character and the main character in the owl house is luz so she "stole their spotlight" and that might be why they hate her

Candy Pie generally has a cute design, remove the little derpy faces on the shoes, give her more complimentary colors and a more fitting outfit and possibly different hair style remove the blush and CUTE. (If she didn't hate luz then she'd be a way better character, like imagine if Luz had a cute candy obsessed best friend in her mini friendgroup that helped on adventures and Candy Pie lived in a candyland concept part of the boiling isles?)
