Please Like, Subscribe, Share, and Comment. We appreciate your support! Some viewers think the large, metal sink was used as a morgue. Others think it was used to butcher animals. What do you think? I am looking forward to hearing what you think about this abandoned ghost town.

Maripie I know the feeling! As a geology student, I once walked into an tiny mountain encampment in Durango, Mexico. There were smoking campfire ashes and several small steel flasks lying on the ground. I recognized them as mercury flasks worth a small fortune by Mexican miner standards. I feigned indifference, and broke into a cold sweat, sure that there were rifles trained on me, and slowly walked back to my jeep and left. Later in the summer I met an old miner and his pack burro plus old rifle on a trail and he told me that there was nothing that would interest me on the trail ahead. I quickly agreed, turned around, and went back to my jeep again. Aside from dodging rattlers, those were the scariest experiences I had out there.

Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries can last decades and are guaranteed to not leak. Downside, very expensive. AA, AAA, and 9 volt sizes, was told by a testing engineer, the 9 volt batteries could last indefinitely if rarely used.

@Trajasnsns
@Trajasnsns 7 жыл бұрын
Sunny Burrito we don't have anything similar to this. Farms are literally not lived on, very few farmers live on their own land! Only thing we have is abandoned homes and mental institutions and hospitals. Nothing as old as what you see in this video. If we did have the county's make sure to remove old unused sites and re build new homes or other people buy old land to re build!

Some of the cabins look like they have been very discretely repaired. The roofs have a particularly well kept look to them on some of them. I suspect the users of these buildings have intentions of a return at some point. The leather jacket looks just like the ones I used to see down at Tiajauna back in the day. I used to go over to TJ from the San Ysidro border crossing about twenty plus years ago. The metal table was probably used for cleaning/prepping wild game meat. It is nice to see the vandals have not torn it all up.
@ExploreWithUs

Yes, you're right Tom, the Boy Scouts use to camp there and did some repairs, but it looks like they haven't been there in a long time, or at least they haven't done any repairs in a long time. I think you're right about the metal table. :-)

When I lived in NM back in 1999, I went to an abandoned town that had a caretaker for tourist. Those double ruts coming down the left side of the hill at 9:33 min look like the same ruts the caretaker told me were stage coach tracks from the late 1800 to early 1900s... when stage coaches were still in use. What am amazing fine!

Very interesting...! I noticed that there were two modern chairs in the first house, no more than 5 years old, with no dust on them. In the kitchen of building 2 were a bunch of unknown chemicals under the sink, and a "heavy box" that went unexamined. A couple of recent looking beer bottles rounded off the picture. It all looked too clean and recently-used, for my liking. This place has served a purpose recently, probably not a legal one.

Another awesome video! I would say that long "sink" in the one building would have been a wash trough for cleaning deer or other livestock. I hope you guys always wear gloves, arm and leg protection, boots, and keep an emergency medical kit with you. If I were you, although I am not pro-gun, it seems that some sort of protection would be wise. I think most of those half buried or rock walled small buildings you call "cold storage" are smoke houses. They almost inevitably have a stack on top, but never a stove inside, or evidence of one. No refrigeration except winter (lol), salting, smoking, and drying was about the only way to preserve meat, whether stock or game. That "odd sink" seems like the "washing machine"/laundry station. I do think your "water heater" call was spot on, though it could be a low pressure boiler as well

That was a cool place. That one cabin was actually pretty clean. I'd bunked there. It was funny in the beginning you said "I hear strange noises" and then changed the subject. What else would you expect in a ghost town. Bet that place would be really creepy at night..

Hmmmm, I bet is an active mine done on a part time basis. There are a lot of tracks in the dirt around 9:00. The mine shaft looks clean. and I bet you are on candid camera right now. Second guess after reading something I saw. These are rented or free shelter. Lots of 4x4 dudes put food & supplies in these places in case someone has an energency. Nailed it!

This mine died around 1945. All mine shafts and tunnel had barbed wire blocking them off.

I am sure you are familiar with Caliente. In 1957 I was 5 years old and lived there in one of the row houses right on hwy 93 as you head north out of town. My dad was a miner. Those houses are fixed up nice compared to what they were in 1957.

Sometimes when I see ghost towns it give me some sense of melancholy just thinking about the people that one time was living over there in the middle of nowhere in a really hard environment just looking for better life and in the end they have to abandon the place one more time without any luck in search for something better elsewhere . Blessings always

I think the metal sinks were for cutting up wild game esp. Deer, judging from all the bones.
