'Douglas' seems to bounce around quite a bit - guess that explains Duncan's "Rock 'n' Roll".

That’s because Douglas was known to be a “Rough Rider” due to it’s short wheelbase.

I'm a plain blunt engine! I speak as I find! Tunnels should be tunnels and not rabbit holes! This railway is no good at all!

Since Douglas had a short wheelbase and rough riding, did that ever cause it to derail? If so, then what date?

My best bet is yes, even though it is because of the Railway Series books. Awdry is known for making very realistic stories based on real life events.

it did many times to the point where the crews managed to rerail the loco within 30 minutes several times
