My friend who is a Amazon developer said that most of the work they do is software design and documentation. The coding/programming are the jobs that takes the least amount of their time cause they have to either patch or add/extend a feature as the product has already been built.

I used to cook for LinkedIn employees from 2017 when the kitchen opened to 2019. Good times! I also see that they have tvs now and you cant serve yourself. Now I'm a data analyst working at walmart. I see you also have jira tickets that's cool! We have meetings everyday except Friday.

The final two minutes of this video provided some hope that future installments may provide examples of the type of content that initially attracted me to this channel. Prior to that, I wondered which of the depicted activities would be riskier for someone more than twice Marcos's age: traveling through Manhattan on a motorized skateboard or eating lunch in a crowded, noisy room?

Marcos amazing video seriously I can't thank you enough for such a high-quality video! As a young 21-year-old also living in NYC and looking for the next step in my life, this video gave me a valuable idea of what getting into this field may look like in the city. I have decided to pick up learning the fundamentals to learn the front end and hopefully eventually back end. I know coding is not easy, let alone that I'm currently a self-learner but when I see videos like these it gives me the motivation I need to keep learning. If I may ask, is there any advice you would give to someone like myself who wants to take this career path seriously or any resources/practice you would recommend someone in my boat should look into? Again ,amazing video and keep up the content!

Hey thanks for the nice comment!! I'm glad you enjoy my videos and good luck on pursuing your career. I think the biggest advice I can get is just to be consistent. If you haven't already, work on coding projects, leetcode, read coding books and grind away! :)

Funny enough, I use Apache Felix every day as an engineer haha. I know you said you work on Apache Helix, but I work in the OSGi framework for enterprise software. Also, this is definitely a very realistic Software Engineer day haha. Pretty much the exact same as mine minus New York. We even have Ping Pong breaks as well lol. Sometimes we also do a little office golf, basketball, or Super Smashbros as well haha.

LinkedIn seems so RELAXED compared to Meta. Most of the time I do not have time to go to the gym because we are working overtime to finish deadlines unless we get managed out during PSC. Only very lucky meta software engineers get to have similar work life balance and have enough time to sit and talk with friends on couches or take naps.

Great video! Glad you are wearing a helmet! I only pay $20 a month for gym but heard NYC gym dues are crazy expensive! But you get free meals so that is awesome. How is Linked doing as far as all the tech layoffs in the last week or so? Hope it doesn’t affect you!

The boards are currently banned in London as there have been sone awful road accidents with cars and even bicycles. Please be careful. The main issue being the lack of lights and visibility, so easy for a driver not to spot a boarder in less good weather, dim light, etc.

What I look in similar videos about those programmers are eating, exercising, I don't see them coding a complex problem, I don't see them do a meaningful job. So, layoff is a inevitable fate for them.

why does every software engineer have a MacBook? Personal preference or just what the company gives you?

I got the choice for MacBook or Windows. I chose MacBook, despite having a windows as my own personal workstation. I think overall, MacBook has better integration with the frameworks I use. Furthermore, since most people have MacBooks, common issues related to OS are easier to debug and fix as there are more resources

Doing it for the money or other reasons isn't as bad as people make it seem. However, I think you'd definitely need to be somewhat interested technology in order to make it far
