Dang, there are so many skis out there to test, and it's impossible to run a true A/B test, so it'd be way easier to just thin the herd whenever a ski disappoints and ignore it going forward. Huge respect for this review.

Thank you for the review. As an East Coast skier, I always want to know how a ski does or could perform on ice, not Sierra Nevada or Rocky Mountain "ice".... real ice, like a what you find at a skating rink, or Wildcat Mountain. Also, I know so far the focus is on ski reviews and reviewing reviews etc which has been great to watch. I hope at some point you will find time to add videos regarding drills, carving, etc. If I had money to spare(sounds cliche, but really, temporarily don't have $$$ or ¢¢), I would be subscribed, your channel is worth it, thank you for doing this and keeping at it.

How were the bindings they had on the skis? They look like the Atomic Strive 13 GWs and I was thinking of picking up a pair for my Bent 100s. Loved the review!

Last gen bent 100 are a great east coast tree ski. Light and easy to throw around in tight places. Good float and reasonable edge grip. Not a do everything ski but a nice east coast glade specialty ski

Elliott another excellent review. I really hope you get to try the Armada Declivity 102 ... IMO that ski can carve, good flotation in Utah powder up to 18 inches deep and it's stiffness keeps me well balanced. I had the previous version of the Bent 100 and it did nothing well, it plowed through powder in lieu of providing floatation.

I just skied the ARV JJ 116 (not the UL) at Alta this past Wednesday and it was amazing. That pow ski would be a nice addition to your Declivity 102

@@juryacquittal I purchased the Declivity 108 to be my powder ski for when it's bottomless. IMO the shovel design of the ski is more important for skiing powder than the waist. On my first day on the 108's I made first tracks through Road to Provo top to bottom following a 24 inch dump ... plenty of flotation, control, carvability and run over small children at speed capability.

So the first BC 100s that came out were good, but you had to have them longer above your head. There was a problem with them though. They did not float. The front rocker went up too fast. Not long enough. You would ski them but they were submarines. They were fun though.

I agree with you about the width. To me the one hundred millimeter waist doesn't make as much sense for this style of ski. 110 Seems like it makes more sense with this shape and build. 100 mm is still more all mountain width. I prefer something more well rounded at 100mm

Totally agree, I like the 2 ski quiver quite a lot more, but I get the appeal of a ski that covers alot of conditions broadly

88-92 for all-terrain, and 106-112 for off trail pow?
@carterfan80
@carterfan80 4 ай бұрын
@lifted_above pretty much.. But it depends where you live in your personal preference. I like 85 to 92.. and 95 to 100ish. I skied almost 3 feet of powder on an A.R v 100., bent 100, Rossi sender 104 and elan playmaker 100 (great demo day). Had no issue at all with float on any of those. For me it's not worth spending the money on something very wide. I live on the East Coast. I would use it once a year at most. I also ski out west every year, But my last five trips i've had zero powder days .😥🤣. A floaty 100 is usually enough IMO.

@@carterfan80 I live in the midwest, so the snow here is basically always packed or sloppy mash potato. I had the experience once in my life of deep powder in the late 90's at Heavenly Resort in Lake Tahoe area, dumped about 12 feet over the course of the week. Sadly it was also 1990's straight skis and they wanted to sink to the bottom.

Right? Also lets talk speed. Its one thing for a light ski to skip through varied terrain but if you are doing the macht schnell you want some of that Austrian heft.
@juryacquittal

Have you tried the Unleashed 98 or 108? Those skis carve better than the Enforcer, in my opinion. In addition, they offer better off piste performance than the Enforcer too. Most versitile ski I have ever owned. But they fail in powder deeper than 8" so you would want a separate dedicated powder ski.

@@juryacquittal I need to try the unleashed! The 108s look awesome. But my "powder" ski is a pair of Moment Wildcat 108s, so it's hard for me to justify another pair of 108s, haha

Love your humor and these reviews! Do you really believe that a ski went from being absolutely terrible last year to being fantastic this year? Something feels off there just logically. NOTHING changes that much. Either the starting point was off or the end point is off.

Dig your channel, been binging lately. I primarily ski on the East coast and currently looking for a playful tree/mogul ski to complement my 177cm Kendos that I can possibly also take out West as a daily (I'm 5'10", 180lbs). Was looking between the QST 98 in 183cm or the 24/25 Bent 100 in 179cm. Am I in the ballpark?

Can I make a suggestion not trying to criticize when you're skiing looks like you're driving a semi truck bring them in more like you're driving a Car steering wheel or more or less like your boxing keep them above your knees and bend your knees above your toes pretend there's a marble in between your big toe and the other toe push down on that marble that will bring up your heel up naturally when you make that turn so basically that puts pressure on your shin squeezing the marble between your big toe, knees above toes hands above waist & knees like your boxing I've been skiing for 40 years I used to be an ski instructor try it for half a day see if it helps looks like you're having fun out there I enjoy your videos

@@RicketySkiReviews yeah no problem if you're at home grab two marbles put them between your big toe and your other toe on the bottom corner and get into a stance like you're skiing bend your knees above your toes put your hands out in front of you above your waist and knees not too high just above your waist and put pressure on the marble like you're making a turn that's a good way to practice of course have two marbles in between your toes on both feet when you do this it will automatically lift your heel up for the turn if you look at most Advanced professional skiers they never really even make a pole plant all the time you can use your hands like you're making a pole plant to create the turn

I have been looking for a pair of powder/freeride skis. Right now it's between the Bent 110 or Qst 106/98. I have been skiing all my life but I am not as comfortable in powder/off-piste. Would really appreciate a comment🙂
@RicketySkiReviews
@RicketySkiReviews 4 ай бұрын
I would say the Bent 110 does better turning in the trees with quick turns while still floating well. The QST is more of a surfy open turn, if you have ever Snowboarded in powder it kind of feels familiar. If you're able to, I would test out the Atomic Backland if you feel apprehensive about powder and trees, it's very forgiving.

So I demoed this ski last Sunday and I did not like it. It was getting deflected really bad and I was wanting to like them. There was an inch of fresh snow with groomed snow under it. So after it got all chopped up it was just not fun to ski fast with it constantly deflecting off of rougher patches.

if you had to choose between salomon qst 98 or new atomic bent 100 for a single quiver ski?

That's a tough one, they're very different skis. If you like surfy snowboard type skiing probably the Qst 98 slightly, but I do like the way the bent 100 carves so idk, they're super similar, just depends on which traits in a ski are more important to you.

This category of ski has no place in my quiver. Atomic, like Armada, have taken their playful smeary surfy pow skis and made them more narrow. The narrower Bents and Armada ARVs make no sense to me except for the fact that they are very easy to ski on piste since you just kinda slide down the groomers. Great for the "lazy" skier who just wants to get down the groomers with miminal effort. The ARV JJ 116 and Bent 120 are very fun and effective in deep powder. But as a daily driver, a stiffer and heavier ski with titinal that can achieve a high edge angle (50 degrees or more) is much more effective at carving while still allowing moderate off piste performance for the soft pack. Much better to choose a Maverick, Unleashed 98 or Enforcer, M6, etc. as a daily driver.
