I got a A1 150hp,had it for 3 years, fantastic, 3 door with tints on the rear windows looks nicer than the 5 door, nippy little thing too and frugal, have not spent a quid on it bar 2 rear tyres, bought it from main dealer with 14,000 miles on it done 35,000 now, I think it looks better than the New model ours has flat bottom steering wheel too. No plans to change.

Good review. It's interesting about the steering issue. My wifes S1 has very stable steering..although not exactly feelsome. A negative point that I would replace it with is that of the very small door pockets..in fact the whole car lacks storage space...there is room for more...but they made the nice design a priority! 😁 Great car though...and I LOVE the traction in wet weather the 4 wheel drives gives in the S1. My wife is on her second S1 and this one has the Bose stereo...not only does this sound a lot better than the standard system..but it makes the car quieter and less tiring on the M'Way. The reason is that the amp and sub for the bose sits in the space under the boot floor (above the exhaust) and stops it resonating. It makes the car feel more grown up...we were not expecting this option to alter the cars character as much as it does.

Douglas B. We’d love to have a go in an S1. I bet that AWD system makes it shift rapidly! The door bins are okay in my opinion, but they could be bigger. Louis just has the standard speakers in this car and they’re decent so we can only imagine how good the Bose ones must be! Thanks for watching 👌
@douglasb.56016 жыл бұрын
The Three Cylinders Thanks for the reply, previous to the S1's my wife had a Skoda Fabia VRS which had much better storage...though the door pockets were nowhere near as pretty!🙂 The traction and grunt from the S1 is great and we both love the manual gearbox. The VRS was only available with DSG...and it left you either driving like a pensioner in normal mode or like a highly strung teenager in sport mode! We both never felt comfortable pulling out of busy junctions as you were left with a slow hesitant exit or left standing spinning your wheels! In the S1...not a problem! ❤

The Three Cylinders 😁..well today I've managed to get some sunglasses in the door pocket...just! Result!😊 I like driving the S1 so much that I think I'm going to sell my VX220..the VX is purer..but a lot harsher and tends to live in the garage as an odd nice day in the Summer car! 😎 I've subbed!👍

Interesting review. I've been driving my TDI 1.6 A1 for about 6 months now and I can only really agree with one bad point. Personally think its a bit uptight if you having an Audi and aren't specing nav with it and saying you can't do much with it. just buy an aftermarket apple car play on and you're sorted for hands-free, nav and music. personally, love the rear end but I guess that is fully opinion based. However the CLUTCH! I can totally agree with, at first you're careful with your new car and then you start giving it a bit once you're comfortable and you trying to get through gears like so "pro racer" you notice it is a so long and half ass doing it will not engage the clutch fully and you'll fuck up and look like a toss revving in neutral or grinding a gear and it is very disappointing, however you could just through a sport clutch on if you have petrol and are driving sporty as I hear they die fast. Lastly, the steering I couldn't disagree more, can through these little cars in the corners and they handle lovely, I'm wondering if you perhaps are referring to a response of the steering? which would require the drive select option if you speced it.
@TheThreeCylinders5 жыл бұрын
KDPRODUCTION thanks for watching dude. As with every car, it’s a matter of opinion. Sat-nav should be standard in such a premium car in our opinion. As for the clutch, it’s an absolute pig, considering it’s an Audi, but I guess auto gearboxes are their forte. Cheaper rivals have much better clutches. As for the steering, it is terrible if you’ve driven its rivals. Even the Fiesta has more engaging and involving steer to it. Yes, the car did have the drive modes, Dynamic mode barely altered the steering weight. It did make it feel better, but not massively. On the whole, it was a well-built, decent hatchback. The new A1 looks great too. 👍🏻 We haven’t driven the diesel so we can’t comment on that.
@OldGamingGA5 жыл бұрын
@@TheThreeCylinders Fair comment. I'm currently driving a 68 plate fiesta while mine is repair :( but I could agree the clutch is very forgiving and the steering is decent but it lacks so much class, like I would call it a new drivers car and I'm 19! so it defiantly isn't a wow! car. I think I'm getting a new A1, S line 148 break auto come the end of the year to change up so hopefully ill enjoy it

@@TheThreeCylinders Wondering if you don't mind your opinion on a mini cooper s with 192 break next or a audi a1 petrol with 148 break at best auto though with a chance of a remap. Which one would you go for? its just the mini is 900 with a claim next for me and the audi is like 1500?
