I purchased a lot of equipment in preparation to take my jet ski to the Bahamas. Was it really worth it? Did I really need all of that stuff? In this video, I talk about some of the equipment that I bought and what my thoughts are on them.

A bonus for the maptuner is they offer an 87 octane tune, so u dont have to carry flammables in the storage compartment.

I remember doing a ton of research on what I need for Bimini, what I should take, what’s necessary, etc. It was a process for sure. Great video. It was also nice since we all traveled in one big pack that if I didn’t have something I know someone else probably would. One of the things that I had that probably only one or two other people had was a trauma kit just in case.

I agree. Travelling in a large group definitely eased the mind a bit. The trauma kit was definitely a good idea. That was one thing that I did not think of!

Another great and helpful video. We are doing this trip in June with Raul thanks to your video. We are doubling up as it is two couples and we are coming from Iowa. We want to drive together. We are using our FXs and leaving the GPs at home.

Great info Frank. Is that a Weego power pack? I recently bought a Weego to keep around to start any car or boat if needed. I have about 5 videos on my channel now.

Do you know where to pinch off your water line and do you keep onboard the tool to do so in the event of a tow?

You should try wetsuit boots there tough and keep your feet warm

I actually have a pair. I use them when I am riding in cold weather. You are right, they do keep your feet warm!!

Hello ! I saw your video with the Bigant box behind your ski with adjustable bungee.. did you end up buying a custom aluminium rack instead ? How was the Bigant box ? It didn’t hold up ?

I did end up buying a custom box but not because the Bigant fell apart. It did quite well. I was about to do the crossing to Bimini and felt it would be safer to have something designed for that purpose. My homemade solution was food but I wasn't sure it was that good. When I did the Bimini crossing, there were two guys that had seen my video and used the Bigant idea. They made it over and back with no issues. I could have saved my money! 😁

Does iPhone 14 replace the Personal Locator Beacon? I believe the phones can do the same thing..

Definitely not. It is not meant for the marine environment and it does not send a signal to a satellite if you are lost. Not to mention, it is no good once you are out of range of a cell tower.

I did not realize the iPhone 14 had a satellite option. It sounds like the technology would work but I still wonder about the ability to survive in a marine environment. If you find yourself in an unfortunate situation where you are in the water far from land, I would put my trust in a device that was designed for that scenario.

What brand gas tank did you get and how do you have it secured ? I have two Rotopax 3.5 gallon tanks on back order, but curious about the RJ racing 5 gallon tanks I have seen.

I used a 5 gallon Scepter can that I got from Walmart. I have a rack on the back of my ski that I put it in and secure it with a bungee.

what do you keep your anchor in?

I just keep it in a mesh bag and that works well. It allows the anchor and rode to dry after I use it.

Did you get an extra Gas can to take on the trip? I would imagine that SVHO would need to fill up half way there.

I did have an extra 5 gallon can but I did not need to use it. When we arrived in Bimini, I still had about 4 gallons left in the tank.

@@JohnnyPottsIII It is easy to get when they have it. Bimini Sands has a marina and there are also a couple over on North Bimini. The problem is that sometimes they run out. They did when we were there. Didn't present a huge problem but it can be annoying. That's just island life. 🤣

Interesting. I'm curious as to why considering how many supercharged vessels are currently being used in various capacities.

@@TheShipsLogg Simple cost and introduction of more parts to fail. Naturally aspirated is already more than enough power and you yourself have already alluded to added annoyance of higher octane requirements.

@@rickss69 Hey, I can't argue with your point. The simpler the machine, the less likely something will break. We could just go back to the two strokes that PWC's used to have. After all they were much less complex than any of the engines out there today. I think the real question is what matters to you personally. Some folks are really happy with a NA machine and that's perfectly fine. Supercharged machines do add complexity and the fuel is more expensive. I gotta be honest though. After riding SC for the past several years, I won't go back to NA. I have had zero issues and the extra fuel cost is definitely worth it.
