A pheasant jumped out on me whilst riding one day. I lifted my leg up to try to move out of its way, but it changed direction at the last moment and I ended up punting it over a hedge.

Nice loop. I know it well. I have ridden much of it quite a few times. You passed within about mile of my front door. On a loverly dry sunny day it is a glorious area to ride Cambs, Lincs, Northants. I was only in the Coffee Tavern in Oundle about 3 weeks ago having a spot of very nice lunch. Going west from Oundle you ride over more bouncy small roads climbing gentle hills which eventually bring you to the picturesque Welland Valley with the spectacular viaduct at Harringworth stretching across it. Then climb out of the valley on the northern side, over a hill and drop down through Ketton into Stamford. The Baron's Thruxton looks nice. Not many of them in white. You used to have a Thruxton if I recall. Because of you and your Speedy and a couple of other YTers I have my heart set on getting one. There don't seem to be any unhappy Speedmaster owners. I test rode one a couple of months ago. Only problem is am a shorty and found it very difficult operating the feet forward controls as being stretched out which I like btw just in this position my foot angle is more acute and it was difficult getting my foot under the gear and brake levers to operate them, not impossible but after a couple of hours of riding my toes began to ache. I have a 30" inside leg. How much adjustment is in the controls do you think? Are you tall or a shorty as well? The dealer I test rode the Speedy with didn't seem to be that interested in adjusting the foot controls it to fit me, simply saying it would be ok not to worry. Yeah right, it's not his cash he's spending!!!! He suggested maybe I should consider the mid control option which I think is a £400 option and in any case I don't want. Anyway the Speedy is a gorgeous looking bike. Loved riding it. I can see why you like yours so much. I don't think you can get V&H pipes for them anymore. It maybe a Euro 5 thing or Triumph have severed their relationship with them, but apparently they are no longer an option. Btw your link to the Redford Baron's channel isn't working. I used to play rugby against Oundle (circa 1978/79) and, to my eternal shame, broke a guy's hand, by stamping on it .... to be fair, he had been punching me in the face in the preceding three rucks. Glad to see you back Cap' especially on your Speedmaster, as I have the same model (and fabulous black and white paint job) and enjoy rumbling around East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, where the roads are (usually) lovely and clear, the views are amazing and roads twist and turn for miles and miles.

Very nice video Capt! What exhaust did you end up with on your Speedy? I finally rode one last week and it's completely different from my version (2012). I loved it, but would prefer a bit more grumble in the pipes.

hi there......i bought a speedmaster last july, after enjoying your vids......forked out for posh panniers, but they are tiny and not really secure......other than that, great machine.... did i spy a speedmaster on one of your vids with soft black panniers?......any good?......any other alterations?... looking forward to next missive... sterm
