I have both datejust and a sub and I would argue that my blue datejust with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet is a nicer watch. I think people that never held it in their hands got in that sport rolex brainwash trap. Datejust reflects light like a magic, blue dial is mesmerizing and bracelet is way more comfortable than oyster on a sub.

I have a new generation Submariner and it just collects dust. I recently got a DateJust 41 Blue smooth and it’s beautiful and classy and much more comfortable to wear than my sub. Everyone buys a black Sub as their first watch and it’s the most replicated watch. Don’t be afraid to be different.

True, a Datejust is “easier” to get. The Datejust of your choice however is another thing. DJ41 with blue or slate dial, fluted bezel and jubilee is in most countries and AD’s also a waiting list model. It remains the backbone of the Rolex collection and is an awesome everyday watch. I’m glad I got mine on oyster, it makes the watch more versatile 👍

Just bought a 36mm for my father literally 1 week ago. Blue dial, flirted bezel and jubilee bracelet. A better size for an old man dress watch than the 41 in my opinon

I have the Datejust and the GS Shunbun. The Datejust feels better on wrist but the GS dial is outrageous.

The blue dial 41 mm datejust is a lovely watch , nice with the smooth or the white gold bezel , jubilee bracelet would be my choice . But many combinations are available , all a matter of personal preference . I still like the classic 36 mm too .

Datejust Jubilee is way more iconic than the Sub it wears amazing, great variety. Pre dates most active Rolex models. It wears great, love mine. Had a Sub and sold it, nowhere near as comfortable

Hi! Looking for my wedding watch and leaning towards datejust36 black with jublie. However, I’m stuck between dome vs fluted.. I want this to be an everyday + dressy occasion. Hence my style is more simple and minimal. I’m leaning towards dome but people tell me fluted is the iconic symbol of date just and that the dome looks inconsistent with jublie. What’s your take after owning the dome bezel + jublie configuration? Thanks!

Solid review. I love my datejust azzuro Roman numeral. I have dozens of Omegas but the DJ feels special every time. Not a fan of GS. I have tried. I just can’t get there. I also have a few Seamasters and again, really appreciate your point of view here

I went to my Rolex dealer for a Rolex date just blue face, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. They told me their was a 2 year waiting list. Is this right? Or where they trying to make it harder for me to get given my age just being 22 years old?

I couldn’t agree more, the Omega Aqua terra is a pleasing timepiece you can live with forever, and I have Rolex’s in my collection, but personally I do think omega is a better watch all round. Ty & stay safe 👍🏼

hey, as a young man in his 20s and getting a first and only one. Would you recom Rolex Sub or Rolex Datejust? To me its hard cause I know the sub is most copied watch with fakes etc and a lot of people owing one. Datejust on the other hand I don't hear as much about.

My first Rolex was a GMTll. Now that I'm older, I appreciate the OP and DJ much more. I also have a No-Date Sub, a Blue Z Milgauss, a DJ and a OP. Not a fan of fluted bezels, I prefer the smooth bezels.

Good video and topic. My one and only Rolex is a 1603 datejust circa '73 - '75 with a sigma dial. Kudos if you know the significance of the sigma, it's special and now a collectable. I personally feel a collector of watches must have a Rolex. Rolex is a giant in the watch industry and will remain so for a very long time (and it really doesn't matter which model you have). It doesn't matter how hard Omega and Grand Seiko try, they won't beat Rolex.

just bought a DJ41 blue, Smooth and Oyster, the most sporty config you can get on this watch for daily use. fluted is nice but too shimy for my taste to go to Publix or Costco, great for a wedding or dining out.

DJ blue dial is hot. only those have taste will love it. I do have sports model but sports model is just the value to shows. But this blue dial piece if have chance must keep one. Another piece Wimbledon must keep as well

when it comes to rolex datejust, i preferred the 36mm vintage classic. Recently i got my 16030 with jubilee bracelets, blue turning to lavender dial, with open 6 and 9 date wheel and best of all, comes with its original warranty certificate. Nowadays it is really hard to find one come with original tritium dial and matching tritium hands. Basically most come close to these criteria were either modified or parts changed.

I have this datejust but with the jubilee bracelet. It’s definitely a decent waitlisted watch as well... Total icon.

Try finding a blue datejust 41 !! As difficult as the sport watches

I have the DJ 41mm white dial on oyster bracelet and smooth bezel and also a Submariner. Love both these pieces and rotate back and forth with them. I have found the DJ41 very solid and can be worn in both formal or sporty occasions.

I’ve owned the aqua terra the bracelet and clasp is not the greatest quality when compared to the datejust also the omega has a slightly thicker case but as you said it’s each to there own👍👊

I read and watch far too many watch reviews, any argument to say a blue datejust is not a good purchase is purely a preference, my only argument not to buy this would be paying over the odds, if you can get one at the right price its a beautiful watch to own.

I just put myself on a wait list at my local AD for a DateJust /silver dial smooth bezel . Although I love many watch styles and types, I have just grown up seeing this iconic watch on so many arms through my life it’s burned into my psyche. If I don’t get this iconic watch it will always be in the back of my head no matter what else I buy.

Would it be possible to render future videos in true 21:9 (or 2.35:1)? I most phones (and even a ton of monitors) are becoming that ratio. It's also the ratio used for all Hollywood movies. It looks like you rendered a 16:9 with black bars on the top and bottom.

Love my Ball Engineer M Marvelight 40mm with 100m WR and an in-house chronometer movement that is shock resistant and antimagnetic. Tritium tubes look stunning in the dark. Costs almost one third of Rolex Datejust and 1/2 of Omega Aquaterra. Absolutely versatile watch.

I went for the white dial OP and love it. More versatile with its brushed bracelet.

Call me an old man but I've always wanted a classic 36mm two tone datejust with a champagne dial. Although nowadays its wayyyy overpriced because the amount of gold you get is no where near justifiable especially after working with jewelry and precious metals.

Rolex should make WATCHES for Logeman not just the Asian market and Little Wolf Street bankers with thin girly wrists!! if only they came out with a 42 mm. I am talking about the datejust. It's still small on me, but it still looks OK at 41 mm but I wish it was a little larger still tiny.

Great comparison, your right that any one is a fantastic choice. I think long term the Rolex DJ especially the blue color way is a better all around choice. The DJ is nearly twice the cost so the GS and Omega become attractive. That said your advice to get what you truly desire is good advice

You forgot ONE major thing, the stunning Grand Seiko and the stunning Omega lack micro adjustment on the clasp

DJ 41 in blue or Wimbledon in SS, very hard to get. Two Tone is easier but the white fluted gold is also hard to get. I have my DJ for 30 years. Congratulations!!!

For Rolex I’d go for an explorer 1 and an smp 300 white dial. They’re a solid two piece collection imo

Got the call last week from my local AD after a year and half on the list, fell in love with the blue dial DJ41, the jubilee bracelet sealed the deal and was the one I always wanted. Did not hesitate to buy it, and yes of course I have the Pepsi GMT and other sports watches on that list, so I hope this purchase bumped me up on the list for any of those…but I am chuffed to bits to have the DJ for now and since I am not going to sell any of my watches unless I fall hard on my rear it does not bother me what the resale is on them. Say what you want, and I do respect the feedback, but the Omega and GS doesn’t give me the emotion the Rolex does. I gotta say though they let me try the Pepsi GMT on jubilee bracelet which is THE ONE I really want of the lot and I could not stop smiling, and as long as that happens when you try a watch on then you know which is the right one for you 👌

I see the date just as a cosmetic classy dress watch. As such I went with the 36mm black face & sticks on a jubilee bracelet. I think 41mm is too big for what the datejust is supposed to be
