To be fair, the team on D4 and for sure the team on D2: Resurrected are doing great work as well so far. D4 is awhile out but what they've shown looks great and D2's remaster is really looking to be a great hit compared to the disaster that was WC: Reforged. Seems a lot here just like to jump on the hate bandwagon without looking at the current development of both Diablo games.

I think they do care but they have a work culture that is along the lines of: “We know how we want something to be and it will take an immense upset for us to take input form the fans, and even then we will tailor it to suit our desire.”

@super hessu in addition to that, i would like to add. PoE has alot of different ways you can play it and what's rewarding towards you. I see to many people getting caught up in, trying to have the best character for every aspect of the game. My self i like to make my own SFF builds and play trough the core content, story mode then progress in maps. I loved the new maven and map skill tree addition. For the next league i might some incursion and at least some extra labyrinth.

@@charntsabre3463 poe is mostly a solo game in the sense that group play pays out a lot but it is not necessary at all to play the game at a normal If not very high level in terms of content and char optimization

Path of Exile was made in 2013 tho.. It was released only a year after Diablo 3.. And still to this day it gets new expansion every 3 months, introducing new mechanics everytime. The game has become pretty big at this point.. So much so that there are many different endgames now.

@@joonashannila8751 POE is overwhelming to the new player experience. POE caters to that hardcore genre of players while Diablo is more mainstream. Now granted I prefer the POE endgame because it feels like I have something to do all the time unlike Diablo where you just leaderboard chase once you get to t16. I do still get overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge you need to play POE but I'm hoping Diablo 4 can reach a nice balance once it comes out.

@@YauRemi PoE is not that complicated tho.. Yes, it is BIG, but not really complicated when u understand the the basics how things work. The system is just so big that most people struggle to remember or learn everything.. But that's why I love that game.. Because it is so big that people are even STILL coming up with totally new builds and stuff like that ^^ But yeah you are right tho.. PoE is definitely not for children cause of that.. Diablo is better for casual players for sure

I tried POE when i was recommended it around the age of 16 and felt overwhelmed with info to begin with partly cause it was my first real exposure to a game of that genre, coming from games like LoL and Overwatch. I think I only played like an hour and couldn't really be bothered continuing on. Recently I picked up D3 after looking at it for a good amount of time and didn't feel bogged down with info at all and am looking forward to D2 resurrected and D4 when they come out. After getting into this genre more and seeing all this stuff on POE here it looks super sick and I think I might give it a go again.

Now I don't know since when was the D2R test scheduled publicly, but that PoE's official stream was scheduled almost a month ago, so dunno if Blizzard cucked themselves our what honestly xD

They don't need to. Casual diablers will consume the "season" events of the "new updates" even when there's literally 0 changes to core gameplay loop and mechanics on a span of past three years.

@@darecat5255 I don't know about you sir, there is a definitely a difference with the visual effects and the animations, the texture is optional since PCs have different settings. Maxed out settings in POE 1 does not look anything as good as this and we all have seen it. Not only that, but they added new weapons and new mechanics to the game, so it's not entirely the same game.

@@wesleygrootaert3243 Original PoE doesn't exist anymore. Its already revamped like b@lls over the last years and looks nothing like it used to. I wouldn't say on par with a modern game, but I wouldnt say its like it was either. They have already changed so many assets and upgraded lightning, bloom effects, new antialising systems, high resolutions, etc, that its practically not even the same game anymore. Nice addition with the Lioneyes Watch town as well, which is completely new. They have made plenty such changes since 3.9 and the game really looks more than adequate enough. Hardly ugly. Latest new map tilesets they added last patch are also amazing, following the design detail and level of PoE 2... Now all we need is some new character models. Although they are not as bad as they were, they really do need to be revamped as well, and this is already the case. The PoE 2 initial trailer showcased all the new character models for the existing classes, that will have the new rigs on them as well. TL:DR bit of a visual mishmash atm, but the game already looks more than adequate enough and has improved drastically over the years, especially the last 2 years. Its hardly even the same game anymore. And it will only get better, as we clearly see.

Completed the storyline, a few years ago, and the endgame immediately got EXTREMELY complicated with the gear optimization and 70 different progression systems. Turned me off completely from continuing the game.

@@plain_simple_garak The passive tree is fine, the issue is the sheer amount and complexity of content from like 20 different expansions all existing at the same time. Imagine WoW if instead of retiring systems from an expansion Blizzard kept everything in AND made it all relevant/required for optimal progression. So you'd have a billion systems to keep track of.

I did too...but after 2 years i was in the mentality to learn and commit so i dived deep and still learning and diving till today

Ritual league was the straw the broke the camels back. The only two mechanics that were worth doing were Harbinger/Delirium and Harvest. 90% of the playerbase were target farming those mechanics, and GGG realized that this type of gameplay would probably be quite unhealthy for the game in the future. So they had to rework everything so that players would have incentives to do league mechanics other than Harvest/Harbinger. I still think Echoes of the Atlas (Maven) was the most game-changing mechanic they've ever introduced, since it changed literally everything about the way people played the end-game in the past.

its not that much honestly, just very little changes there and here that players have been asking for the whole of the leagues ( example the ascendency, they only change is that you can choose the enchanment and new bonus rewards)

And I DO understand they are F2P and need a revenue, but they really don`t need to make it so expensive, people would still buy cosmetics even if they had bought some already, I would have. I - have - not - seen - a - single - game - as - expensive - as - poe when it comes to cosmetics. ever. I still love the game tho. Now when I see something new in the store that I would have like, I don`t bother. I put that money into an investment instead :P.

It's good to mention that they are reworking all base armors in the game so you will no longer look like clown without MTX. They mention it in the first reveal.

Yes it will because not everyone like POE gameplay, I loved the early game but I can stand how the gameplay is after 10h and it always goes worse in my opinion. But that's totally a matter of taste. I don't like spamming dash while making the whole room explode every three frames. He largely prefer D3, lost ark or even Torchlight 2 gameplay. I can see why you find that fun. But to me, this is the type of thing you want to see happen sometime not always, that's how you feel powerful, when you unleash everything and your power goes x100 for few seconds. In POE you always are in x100. And I'm not even talking about the lack of impact in every attack, everything looks kinda bland to me in POE but seeing the POE2 trailer, I'm sure they fixed it. The building system is amazing yet very punishing at the same time. Better delete than rebuild... It's not my type of tea. I love what Diablo 4 have shown to this day and I love both D2 and D3, my dream would be a mix of both. But I the end, I really hope that D4 is not like POE, what the point of having the same game when you can have two different one.

PoE 2 is a patch. It's basically a 2nd story added to the main game along with other kinds of new stuff.

@@wesso27 Not really. Leagues that run for 3months are expansions. (4 per year) The PoE 2 part is basically a new story completely apart from the leagues and endgame itself.

@@wesso27 People are a bit unclear, I think. I'll try and explain PoE's expansion design, and what PoE 2 is. So basically PoE 2 is a big patch. As in, BIG. It could be said to be an expansion to the current game, presenting an alternate story you can play through instead of the PoE 1 storyline. Both stories will share the endgame, and you can choose either when creating a new character. It will also contain a reworking of the skill gem system and a massive batch of new content. As people noted, PoE gains a new expansion about every 3 months. Compared to WoW, where expansions historically were "vertical", adding better items and a higher level cap, these expansions are mostly "horizontal" additions - they add more variety to the experience, more options for you to reach the ceiling of power. But the level cap and (approximate) power level remains the same. Of course, more options does mean a higher possible power ceiling, but it's more adding choice instead of forcing you to do the new content to keep up. The expansions that PoE releases every quarter usually adds stuff you can do throughout the story instead of adding another tier to endgame characters. PoE 2 is the same - just more options for you to play through the game. But this time, the amount of content is a fuckload, with every aspect of the new story updated to 2021 game design. Note: Of course, balance is balance, and some of the options are definitely more viable than others, a lot of the old stuff isn't good anymore. The next expansion announced in this video tries to address some of this (it was all the stuff they mentioned in the video about Perandus coins, beasts and temple incursions). Also, as players get better (and get better gear; RNG plus gear permanence means that eventually more good gear will be available to everyone, which just hadn't dropped years ago) later additions of endgame bosses are often made more difficult than previous content. The rewards are also often more powerful options for you, but as you saw on the helmet unique in the video (which increases your life, mana and energy shield A LOT, it also cuts into your resistances A LOT, which is a huge deal in PoE endgame), you have to sacrifice other options in order to be able to use them. It's all about choice. But even when the newer options are sometimes more powerful, you don't have to pay a dime for any of it, as the quarterly expansions are always introduced to be part of the base game. And the game is 99% pve anyways, so it's not like you're gonna get ganked by a bored rogue with the better gear. I make a personal goal each league and try to see if I can meet it, and it's absolutely the best ARPG I've ever played.

D3 maybe didnt sustain its playerbase as long as blizz hoped for but it sold extremely well. and since its Buy2play instead of Mtx it most def was a financial success. And D4 will be the same. It will sell extremely well. It will stick around for some time and probably end up shuffleing more money into actiblizz asses with additional Mtx it will die out until theres an expansion dropped for another 40 bucks wich will also sell extremely well stick around for 1-2 more seasons and then die out for good before blizz announces d5. It wont be a healthy constant of an income as PoE with there f2p but mtx model. But it will be a huge financial success anyway cos of its buy2play nature.
